Default Making an Android App?

I'm thinking of learning how to develop an app. So, here's my question. Will it take long time for a newbie to learn the basics in App development?

The smart folks over at MIT have taken over the "app inventor" project that makes it relatively simple to create your own app:

It took me longer to get all the software installed/configured on my laptop than it did to actually create an app.

This is question whose answer is dissimilar for everybody. Some people grab computer science much faster than others. If you have had experience in any other languages, this task might be pretty simple for you. Maybe take you 2-4 weeks to make a simple app. And maybe 8-12 weeks to make a more advanced one. This is dependent on a lot of things.
