Default First project, anyone see issues that might give me problems?

I've got years of development on my back from web with asp, php, perl and some c (mostly php) and I'm learning java now. My spare time is rather limited, so when I was to write an application for mobile units I'm thinking something I can complete within a couple of weekends.

So my current idea is a backgammon game. Since I don't have time nor experience with 3d libs I'd make it 2d unless someone directs me to a very good resource on that. and the gameplay is initially two player, but if I get time I'd like to introduce a simple AI and/or 2 player using either bluetooth or wlan/3g

So, I guess drag and drop of pieces are easily done, and I can't really see any huge problem elsewhere. Is there any other parts that might give me trouble time wise? what about setting up and using bluetooth or wlan? I would think I'll manage to make a nice server/client function, but I'd love if anyone would point to any resources that enlighten communication on android. And of course how I could test this with just one phone.

The game will of course be launched with full source code for free. Just need a bit of confirmation so I don't enter a world of problems on my first app.
