Ok. So I can't use any IM services at work. I would love to be able to plug a full-size keyboard in while there so I can chat on my phone without having to hit the little buttons.
I don't mind the keys for texts, but for long running conversations, I want a keyboard.
Any chance?

I am hoping, when Google expands the Bluetooth protocols that I will be able to contect via my portable/foldable bluetooth keyboard .. which works wonderfully with my SE 990i
Yeah I'd LOVE it if they would add a few more bluetooth profiles. It'd be sweet for them to support HID in both directions too. I'd like to be able to run an app that would make my G1 into a bluetooth keyboard for my mythTv boxes or especially my car pc (if I ever get it done).

I too would absolutely love this! I want to use the mytouch 3g as a bluetooth keyboard for my PS3.
It appears others managed to do this even easier. The good thing is no root required - works on any Android phone, or at least on my G1 worked perfectly

Almost a year after, some considerable development progress has been made and we're now announcing the Teksoft BlueInput for Android, a Bluetooth Driver that allows you to connect a Bluetooth Keyboard to your mobile device for increased typing speed, more productivity, and a new feel of comfort gained by using high tech all arround you.
BlueInput is an advanced HID driver that totally transforms your Android into the perfect Mobile office solution by offering easy Bluetooth connectivity to Bluetooth Keyboards. And it is ready and waiting for you to try it right away.
This application is not free, but the trial version can be used as much as you want, but has a limitation on using the SPACE and ENTER keys.
BlueInput and KeyPro works great on the G1 and maybe some other phones, but on the HTC Hero they dont, and I dont want to put some extra programs on my phone just because google cant put some HID support in the kernel!

you might want to post any issues you might have on their forums and get technical assistance. It's good to see such a program, especially when there is no API for developers to work with Bluetooth!
There are working drivers for the Freedom Pro Keyboard via SPP Bluetooth. It works on the Evo. There are still bugs being worked out, but the developers are incredibly supportive and respond to questions within 24 hours (usually in just a couple of hours).
