Hey everyone,
I have an android 2.2 (HTC incredible S) and I am having a hard time finding a caller id app. There are tons out there that check the number against the phone book etc to identify business and listed numbers, but that is not what I want; I want it to compare the incoming call to my contact list and if there is a match, then give me the name...No more. Since I live in Canada I have to pay monthly for that feature... google voice does it but apparently will not work outside of the US. Free would be nice but I am also willing to pay for it if I am guaranteed it will work...I have tried several already that do not give me what I want


On an unrelated note I also have to pay for voicemail and am trying to find an app for that as well. There were a few out there that record the missed call and send you an email with a .wav file, which would be perfect! But most of those seem to have gone out of business or something.

Does your phone know the number of the incoming call ?? and they lock that feature out ?

If the caller ID info isn't being sent to the phone there won't be any way to look up whos calling ?

Yes my phone is receiving the numbers. For example I used the whitepages caller id app which can tell me the number of the caller but does not recognize that the person is on my contact list.

Realize the thread is about a month old now, but if you are still curious about the voicemail alternative, try freephoneline.ca

I think that will do what you want. you can forward your phone to your freephoneline number (if you dont answer your cell) then freephoneline can email you a .wav file

I am also curious about getting caller id, just for my contact list.
