Default sound echo - request

Hello everyone,
I am a beginner in development and i need help writing a code for a simple echo program, from the microphone (realtime not from a saved file).
I need the code obviously to learn and i want to be able to control the delay of the echoed stream as well as the number of echoes
if possible i want to try and listen to the echo only without the original sound.

very specific i know but i have a bigger idea for an app and am stuck here

oh and consider me a newbie who knows nothing

Thanks in advance

Try solving this problem in stages, splitting it up into smaller problems. Start by writing a program that just loads and that's it. Then build from there, and it helps when asking questions on forums to make them as specific as possible. You have asked several questions. Once you've got any program working, try playing audio, recording audio, etc, them move on from there.

I think the echo effect you are looking for is technically called Reverb.

I did a quick search in the android developer page and found this hope it helps somehow.
