Missing Word Game: WordStacker
There are dozens of Scrabble variants available for Android and some of them, like Words with Friends, are pretty popular. But Scrabble gets boring really quick when you're always running out of space on the board to make new letters. The classic game "UpWords" solves that by letting you stack letters to make new words out of old ones.
Currently, there's not a single variant of UpWords that I'm aware of on Andorid; I'd love to see even a basic one (with multiplayer support of course; Words with Friends is particularly awesome at this).
But I'd really love to see a variant of this great game where you can customize everything for each game. For example, some great options might be:
- Select from different board grid sizes
- Toggle Randomized placement multi-scoring tiles (double-word, triple letter, etc)
- Change quantity of multi-scoring tiles
- Multiple levels of Dictionary "Strictness" selection (i.e. "lazy" dictionary allows contractions, colloquialisms, and word combos; "cruel" dictionary won't accept words based on plurality or certain generic suffixes like 'ing', 'er', 'ed')
- Change stack-height limit (3, 5, infinite)
- Multiple levels of letter distribution ("standard" would be based on Scrabble or UpWords, "random" would just draw each hand randomly from an infinite, unweighted supply of letters, etc)
Perhaps an alternative to offering all of these options to the player to customize for each game, would be to provide many different pre-designed boards, each with its own special rules -- starting with the standard Scrabble and/or UpWords board, but adding many different choices for mixing up gameplay. A free version might include the default board and 1-2 other boards.
