On my Old Sidekick phone there was a setting that allowed you to setup a profile based on the time. For instance:
Time: 8am-4:30pm
Profile: Medium
Run Alternative Profile Weekday yes/no
Run Alternative Profile Weekend yes/no
Default: Loud
So basically since the Sidekick had profile settings it would look at whatever you set for Medium and run it mon-fri 8am-430pm. And just the opposite it would change profile's to loud when not in that time frame.
Yeah sure I could look for an app called Locale or something like that, but honestly I don't want to have my phone running GPS or Wifi and drain the battery all day by location when my phone could just use the clock since well it has it and its simple.
So this app would probably need two things.
*User defined Profiles with settings for each.
--Phone volume
--Phone viberate yes/no
--Phone silence
--Media volume
--Wifi and GPS stuff could be set to ignore or have user defined I suppose.
*Time based settings
--When to run start/finish
--How often to run Weekday/Weekend
--What to run when its not running Defualt profile
I started using Quick Profiles Last night because it seems to do what I want, but Its lacking the time settings. I mean lets face it. All of us regular joes have jobs and some of us are 9-5'ers that work the same grind every day so this would be very useful. Sure there are some people that work different hours every day because they work retail, food industry or whatever so the timed settings might not be as important to them, but the changing of the profiles on the fly would be very inportant.
Heck I even setup a profile using that app above called "Do Not Disturb", which means when I'm at the movies don't ring, viberate or make a sound when an email comes in. I mean the audio in a theater is loud and I'm not going to hear the email or call anyways, but do I want a *bong* when its a really quite scene.
Gave Locale a try, I didn't realize you could set things based on time or location. Now I feel silly.

try Tasker, it does have a bit of a learning curve like other robust apps that do a lot, but you can use time parameters to control which settings will be in effect, & not depend on gps locations.
You can find it at tasker.dinglisch.net there are online wiki's to help you thru & step-throughs, & the developer is reasonably open to suggestions & is responsive & cares about users. I know b/c I worked w/him on the Palm version of this app.
Check it out, there's loads it will enable you to do. I have it set based on time to start Airplane Mode when I want to sleep w/out interruption of ringing phone & turn A. Mode off in the a.m. when I need to get calls... also saves battery power...
