Default Spark (XBox Live client): Spark, Most complete Xbox live app

I wanted to take a moment to review this app, It is the most complete Xboxlive app I have found on the market thus far. Being that we all love our phones chances are we all gamers as well so I hope everyone benefits from this. I have tried a few other apps for xboxlive use and have come to a happy conclusion with the Spark app. Most other apps do cover the basics like friends list what they are playing avatars etc but I have found this app to go a step futhere with messaging features all donw within the app itself. Take a look at my pros and cons and feel free to add.

Pros.
1. FREE (who doesn't like free) with no ADS! F or now.
2. Only 251 kb's
3. works with Froyo
4. Friends list complete with gamer points, avatar, what they are playing and online/offline status
5. the ability to check your messages
6. The ability to compose a messages
7. ability to add a friend
8. ability to remove a friend
9. compare games
10. game history
11. Biggest plus for me.... THE ABILITY TO DO ALL OF THIS FROM WITHIN THE APP, NO NEED TO USE THE BROWSER. AT ALL!

Cons.
1. Takes a while to refresh when prompted (especially when not on 3/g or wifi)
2. Sometimes will not connect (especially when not on 3/g or wifi)
3. no widget feature
4. The name and the icon could be a little more 360 friendly

In conclusion. I would highly recommend this app to all 360 gamers. It is free and only 251kb's, why wouldn't you have it. lol.

I can't find anything under 'Spark Xbox' in the market. Is it under a different name or do you have a scannable code?

I prefer Game On. I don't like giving them my email and password which they can then use to hack my tag and run up bills on my credit card.

Safety over functionality

I came here to look for any red flags about this app as I would be worried about sharing my username and password as well. I would like to clarify a couple misconceptions you have, though please keep your concern and caution, they will serve you well.

First, having your username and password would mean they would log in. No hacking required.

Second, on the Xbox 360, there is a sequence of four or five buttons you can set to protect your account beyond the username and password, e.g. LT LT RT RB X. You press the buttons in sequence, and you remember it. If you ever want to recover the gamertag on another console, you will need that combo -- or the recovery will fail.

Third, storing a credit card on your Xbox Live account is generally a bad idea. If you're considering trusting something like Spark, I would remove that credit card, if it's up there. Instead, just get your Microsoft Points at Walmart (or on Amazon.com after turning in coins at Coinstar, it bypasses the 8.9% or whatever coin-counting fee if you get a gift card) and LIVE time on Amazon or walmart.com, they run sales all the time. My wife and I got a year of LIVE for $30 each.

That said... I want this app, I'm just not sure if I can trust it. I do want its functionality though.

I used Spark until the new Xbox.com site was launched about a month ago, which stopped Spark from working and there was no information as to when, if ever, it would be updated, so I uninstalled it and now I see a premium version of it on the Market.

Spark

I too used it for quite a while on occasion and hadn't used it much for quite a while. After Black Ops came out I planed to use it a little more but when I launched it I got some sort of 'Gamer pic not found' error. I uninstalled and tried to install again and I see it's not $1.50 which is too rich for the limited amount of use it would get from me. It was a good app for sure but I barely used it when it was free so I can't justify even a buck fifty to not launch my browser and view my friends list that way. I don't use the notifications or anything like that so for me it truly is just an easier way to see my friends list.

Since Spark 360 went premium I've been using Xbox Live Statistics (Beta):
