Default aTumble - Android Tumblr: A lazy attempt at being a great application

aTumble is an application that gives Tumblr users the ability to upload blog posts and pictures to their Tumblr blog. Many who use Tumblr and an Android phone know that their has never really been any solid solutions to updating your Tumblr from your Android phone. This is where aTumble steps in and tries to deliver.

As an early adopter of the aTumble app I can honestly say that development on this app is less than stellar. With just a handful of standout updates over the past year or so, this application has been the source and relief of many frustrations since it appeared in the market. The functionality of the app is overall pretty solid. It allows you to upload your posts, quotes and pictures and even allows a view of your dashboard. In short, it allows you to do what you need to do. This, of course, can never really be a bad thing, but when something you pay for only does the bare minimum expected of it, it tends to leave a sour taste in your mouth. Since I have been using this app, I have had force closes galore. It seemed like every day there was a new force close error and a part of the app that they rendered useless. It created many frustrations and left me disappointed that an app with this much promise and such a heads up on the competition would settle for just barely getting the job done.

In a nutshell, aTumble will allow you to edit and update your blog with pictures and quotes, that is if none of the force close bugs happen. Basic functionality of the app is somewhat solid and can be enjoyable, but the app just seems to fall short of being solid enough for me to recommend. I haven't tried any of the other Tumblr apps, but having used this one for quite some time, i can only say that the app is a lazily-executed attempt at being a top Tumblr app for the Android OS. Maybe the developer will seize the opportunity and give this app the attention it deserves.
