Default Archos 70 : Terrible Battery Life

Hey has anybody else had a problem with this? Supposedly you can use this thing for 10 hours. But I lose battery life after a few hours. Was wondering if there were any apps or anything that could improve its battery life.

Exactly how long? 2 hours? three?

I'm not sure about the A70, but i took the A101 on a family trip yesterday and it lasted 8 hours of GPS/Internet tether and continiously playing back anime.

Best advice i can give is to lower the brightness. If you check your androids battery screen, it'll likely show the LCD as the biggest power draw out of all the other components combined and multiplied by five.

If I clear all the programs, and leave it on. It will run out of battery life in about 4 hours. No where near the amount Archos claims it can last.

I have the Archos 70 and its definitely lasting longer than that - I've not had it run out of power completely yet!

Have you looked at the info on what is using up battery, I think under settings? That should give you a clue... (A bright screen thats on all the time is a common cause...)

+1

I'm seeing great battery life on this device. If I turn it on in the morning, play with it a little through the day (leaving device on throughout the day), and then playing with it extensively for 4-5 hours at night...I go to bed with about 20% battery left. That's pretty good in my book.

I've read some users reporting bad battery life. You may have a bad unit and need to exchange it for another one.

i can run the archos for 12 hours in which 8 hours used solely playing music and the rest for video, games, and ebook reading. Charge your Archos 70 accordingly or charge it overnight.

Turn off the wifi and it will extend your battery life a lot.

Mine sat idle for almost exactly 24 hours (booted, wifi off, no use) and when I pushed the power button to get the screen on it had used one percent of the battery according to the meter.

I'm more than happy with my battery. As with my evo, when it drains fast, it's usually me.

You can find some battery tests here comparing different Archos Gen8 devices. As the test results show, continuous video playing goes from 4 hours (Archos 32 IT) to almost 7 hours (Archos 101 IT).

I took my Archos 70 IT 250GB on a trip yesterday for the first time. Disconnected the charger about 8:00. Got on the bus to church. Used the tablet while riding to church, for Bible study. Kept it on the entire trip.

Got home around 12:30, still had 57% battery power left!

I'm not sure with the Archos battery, but some batteries need to be drained completely, then recharged fully. Do that at least twice, maybe three times.

I still haven't found information stating exactly how to charge the Archos battery. I've let it get down to where the warning came on, at 15%. I put it back on the charger right away.

I've noticed an improvement in batter life a little. My Archos will run all day. I have the screen turned down completely. I just turned Bluetooth off. Tomorrow when I take the Archos to work, I will turn off WiFi, except when I check out the hot spot at McDonalds!

If that doesn't work, there is a coffee shop down the street with free WiFi. I'll see if that works.
