Just saw this thread over at archosfans. Looks like the new 2.2 firmware is going to have great improvements to over come the 256 meg app storage concerns.

Since we tested the initial beta firmware of 2.2 these past 3 weeks, now there is a new super stable fast beta testing firmware.

App Space is now full Nand, 8GB, 16GB, 250GB, whatever, you can use it all for applications space.

The firmware seems not buggy at all, I can't find bugs. So I guess it is near.

Well if you get the 250GB 70 I wouldn't recommend putting apps on it, as it'll make the HDD spin too often.
