Confused rooting questions

i am pretty new the android and rooting. i have had my aria for awhile now and i love it. recently someone told me about rooting. i have looked through a lot of the questions about rooting and found a lot of answers but havent found some answers. before i root my phone i would like to know the pros and cons of the rooting process and post rooting. i have found alot of pros but no cons.

so i guess what im asking is what are the pros and cons of rooting the HTC aria?

sorry if this question has already been asked.

Cons are that it will void your warranty since you are gaining full control and access over your phone when you aren't supposed to. Also, if you dont follow the instructions right it might lead to breaking your phone (this is kinda rare though, it'll only happen if your phone is broken before you start rooting)
