Cool AlphaRevX Instruction please.

Could someone please explain exactly the steps that need to be taken to root the Aria using the new AlphaRevX method. Thanks, this is my first attempt at rooting.

There are the instructions posted in the HTC Desire forum:

Quote:
To obtain root, follow these steps(You are running a CDMA Desire right?)

[Credit for this goes to attn1 at XDA]
1. Get fastboot at the bottom of the page here: HTC - Developer Center
2. Download clockworkmod recovery: HTC Desire CDMA recovery here:
3. fastboot flash recovery <recovery.img>
4. Copy su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed.zip to your sdcard root
5. Unplug USB
6. Turn the device off
7. Hold volume down button (HOLD IT) and press power
8. Hboot will start. Navigate to recovery with the vol down button.
9. Press power to select and enter recovery.
10. Select "install zip from sdcard"
11. Then select "Choose zip from sdcard"
12. Then select "su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed.zip"
13. Then select "Yes - install su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed.zip" to confirm
14. Then go back
15. Then reboot.

I would also like to know if this works on Aria, specifically with HBOOT 1.02. Can anyone who has tried to use this method report back?

You should install fastboot.exe in the same directory that you have installed the Android SDK tools.

You need to run all of the Android SDK tools (adb.exe, fastboot.exe) from a Windows command line window.
