Havent been able to find anything on this.. Was wandering if the z4Root one click rooting method can be done on the Ascend 2? A friend wants his rooted and Ive never tried and I dont wanna screw the OS Up.. Lemmie know. Thanks!!

z4root won't work for the A2, it only works on Android 2.2.1 or below. You can try Gingerbreak, which may or may not work, or you can try the guide in this thread:

hi i have the hauwei ascend 2 and it comes with 2.3.3 stock if you upgraded to the 2.3.5 then you need to downgrade it back to stock and root your phone with the update zip given in this forum hope it works

how do you downgrade your ascend from 2.3.5 to 2.3.3? By the way I have a Huawei Ascend II and my carrier is cricket. Thanks for any help.

There are instructions out there on the web and here actually with this info. You must flash the original recovery and flash 2.3.3, then root. It's a fairly simple flash of a .zip file. Then you can proceed to upgrade or just install custom ROMs.
