I tried Toke's instructions for installing CWM and my phone doesn't recognize the drivers for my phone, and your links to your .zip files don't work for your instructions. I'm getting really frustrated trying to do this. >< I just want CM6. That's it. I wanna make a recovery for my system as it is so if I screw it up (which seems likely given that I can't find clear, WORKING instructions for anything) I can have it the way it was.
If there's anyone i can talk to.. that'd be great.

download the file CWM 2.5.1.8.rar and extract it to desktop, next power off your phone and fastboot it by holding vol down, end key, and tap power, it should stay on the white huawei screen, next open the file and run fastboot-windows than run install-recovery-windows, after you have done that, disconnect the usb cord and pull your battery wait 10 sec than put the battery back in. Next press and hold vol up, send key, and tap power, it should now boot into recovery and it should be green and black.

wow!!!! best tut ever!! it was sooo freaking easy to do this..

CWM is a custom recovery that allows you to flash ROMs and flashable files such as certain themes, bootanimations, etc. Stock recovery only allows you to roll the phone back to stock.
You can't flash a custom ROM without CWM or another custom recovery. You can, however, flash back to stock using the method in this post, regardless of whether you have a custom recovery or not.

This brings back xbox modding where I had to have a custom bios on my chip in order to install non stock software.
My chip also let me boot the stock bios.
So i would need to first root the phone.
do the clockwork mod.
Then I'd be able to install cm6.
and the cwm would allow me to revert back to stock if I chose.
Yeah, the in-store people generally have little to no clue about anything modding-related. Hell, half the time you're lucky if they even know anything about the phones themselves, other than the price.

I admit, I suck at this stuff, but am I just missing it or something? Recovery is there, but no flashimage.
just extract the folder with winrar to your desktop and run fastboot-windows and run install-recovery-windows and it will install cwm...i put the folder 2gether to make it wasy for new ascend users.
My PC won't read my phone OR SD card after trying to install CWM/Icarus
I have no idea where to even begin to fix this, so here I am again.
For some reason, after I installed CWM, my PC won't recognize my SD card. Even worse, when I connect my Ascend to the PC, it doesn't even open up that prompt that says "open folder to view files" or anything. So essentially, now my PC won't even recognize my phone as a device.
I've tried formatting the cards, rebooting the computer, doing a factory reset on my phone, everything. I really want to get this Icarus OS on my phone, but I've had a hell of a hard time doing it.

My brothers phone is stuck at the Huawei screen whenever he powers it on.
I was going to tell him to put the phone in recovery and reboot from there but I forgot what buttons are needed to be push to get into recovery. Thanks for the response in advance.
Hi, I have the cricket ascend, and everytime i try to go into recovery more, it always gets stuck on the huawei logo screen. I've waited for about an hour and still nada. Also I've tried doing a factory reset and the same thing happens. Anyone know why an how to fix this?

where can i download the CWM Recovery 3.0.0.5, I'm about to root again, and i need the exe. download, so can anybody supply me with the latest download link of CWM?

download CWM Recovery 3.0.2.4.rar and extract the folder to you desktop and fastboot your phone and run the files according to your OS.
