Just read over the instructions real good and you should be fine. U just need to have root (Z4Root is the easiest/best way IMO) and install clockworkmod's rom manager. And if it does freeze someone here should be able to help you get past it. But with all the flashing I've done in the past weeks I only had one bad flash n it was with cm6 lol

Has everyone tried the new version of CM7?
IMO, this is quite stable compared to the last version. I am getting a lot less force closes, was able to install Swype, and everything is just working dandy.
I know mms and camcorder are still an issue, but I've never had this phone have 90mb of free RAM...until this update.
GJ Isaac, thank you kindly for all your hard work.

I'm was with Cricket and it was a nightmare. No one could really answer what the problem was so I gave up and signed a contract with Sprint last night.

The one thing that I have problems with is the Wi-fi. I know that Isaac tried to fix some of the problems with the most recent build, but it still seems a bit finicky to me.
MMS is unimportant to me, but Wi-Fi is definitely a huge priority for me.

I hope he works a lil on this in the next update.
My input.
WiFi seems to be working fine for me, tho I dont tether it to anything lol
I dont see how pinch to zoom could NOT be possible on the ascend.. its silly, and i need to find which pinball program it was, but there is a pinball program on the market for free in games, it has a yellow icon.. if you download it, and play it on the ascend, you will notice you can push the left AND right side of screen at same time (using the on screen buttons to hit your flippers) and both flippers will go up.
So to me this means the ascend CAN and WILL read 2 fingers at once, if thats possible, then its gotta be possible to impliment multi-touch.

Am I wrong?
no it's not possible. the ascend has 3 different screens that have 3 different drivers. let me correct myself. it is possible. it wont be done for free i promise you that much. the fact is you'd have to have all 3 different ascends to test it on. unless you wanna buy them all for me or other devs. it's wont happen ever.

ok After answering a question for someone else I got to playing around with wifi tether. Well when I enable wifi tether it disables wifi and then when I re-enable wifi theres no internet with with ever is tethered, but it can connect to the phone. Is this a known problem or am I just messing something? App I am using is WiFi Tether. I tried the dnsmasq fix from cyanogenmod but it didnt fix it.

Crap, I ran into a problem. I'm not the best tech with these things, so I probably should've taken more caution.
I did the mod once, and re-did my back up, because of my contacts, and went to re-do it again, but didn't follow the same steps I did the first time. Either way, now my phone is just stuck at the cyanogen (mod) 7 screen, I've tried to get back into ClockWork, but I can't, it just goes straight to the Huawei, then Cyan logo.
Help please, I shouldn't have done this crap at 6 in the morning, and now I'm supposed to making calls in a few hours. I'm an idiot.

Power it off. The press press send, volume up, and power. This will boot u into cwmr. Then do a wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache. Then goto advanced, wipe devlic cache. The install zip from sdcard or restore a backup

from what i know i believe wifi tethering is just broke with cm7. isaacj was working on it (i believe) it was wifi tethering or usb tethering. and he said it just wouldnt work. was a few weeks ago i spoke to him about that issue.

it tethers via the 'cough' 3G, just not by wifi. Oh well nit like I really use it anyhow.
and a puter tether via data just plains sux lol I dont see why ppl whine about it so much, dialup was faster lol

i've loved the usb tethering ability personally. my desktop is RARELY used, i have my laptop with me just about 24.7. having usb tether for those few moments when i need internet out in the field etc. GREAT in my opinion
it is all about what you are trying to do with your phone heh.
Haven't seen a post on this earlier in the thread, so here goes. There is a setting for "Mock Locations" under Settings ->Applications ->Developement. When I uncheck that particular box, google maps, and navigation seem to work fantastic. Doesn't slow down the system, and I don't have to lock and then unlock the screen.

Technically, it was supposed to be an easy fix. I went the trouble of merging the BCM4329 wifi driver code into my kernel and it built correctly. HOWEVER, Huawei screwed you guys over by using a BCM4319 WIFI hardware. Which, of course, doesn't have the source available. The 4329 is open-sourced and common. The 4319 is not.
Long story, short, I need the source code for the 4319 so I can add softap support (Wifi Tethering). Unfortunately, I don't have the source, so I can't add it. I've been looking through the module with a hex editor hoping that maybe Huawei added the support, but I haven't found anything.

well that sux lol, I'll keep an eye for the source code, but you prolly have better resources n contacts on that stuff lol.
Yea I was reading pip's how to compile CM7 n seen that. Very kewl and something I'll be playing with when I get time. Along with some icons, and, and, and lmao
Oh and are ya close on that build you mentioned the other day?

Not very, LOL. I'm afraid my Ascend has been flashed back to stock and is sitting in its box. It's waiting in its box to be sold

Have you try converting the windows driver using NDIS? I remember doing something like this when I installed Linux on a acer laptop I had with a oddball broadcom chipset.
