I'm here in Tucson, one of the stores has it. I played with it. It's actually pretty snappy. I like the feel of the phone. Feels sturdy. I don't like the red color I saw though. I would prefer a black phone over a red one.

Cricket already has the vitality, but they force you to pay an extra $10 a month for that Muve crap and they only have it in red. I suggest saving your money for the Huawei Glory. November is only a little over a month away now, and the Glory is a big step up from everything else they have. I also think it might come out a little early, since someone on the Glory forum is already claiming to have one.

Can't get sound to work right. Notifications just makes two quick vibrations

I had the same problem when i upgraded to 0913.. not even the droid boot up sound worked.. i ended up going back to the 0728 ( i think, the one before 0912 and 0913..) think we may be the only 2 who have had this issue I tried reflashing 3 times and no luck..

Everything is working great for me on 912 running at 729mhz. The gapps Shiny posted earlier with the 7.2 fix work lovely. Much faster than the 624 version my gf and I were running. Oddly, never had the light bug everyone was talking with, hard button lights were working on 624 and still are. Voice mail notifications never worked on either of our ascends on 624 but work fine on 912. The a2sd app seemed to take a while to kick in, the first several apps I downloaded went to internal storage, and about half an hour later, everything started moving over to the SD ext.

This may be a bit off topic for CM7, but I am trying to sell my Ascend now, and my voice/phone account is unlinked, but for some strange reason, there is still 3g service. Any way for me to mess up the data settings so it's the person who buys it cannot use my 3g service?

If the line was disconnected it will still show the 3g or 1x signal. I forgot to pay my bill last month, meant to do it online but then totally forgot that night, and had signal and data but when I went to make a call I got the "You didnt pay your bill ha ha" message and was like damnnnnit! Ahaha

Yeah the 3g service still works though, it receives SOME of my texts and I can surf the net.

Try putting it in airplane mode. Once the data gets disconnected, it might not reconnect.

I tried that too, it reconnects just fine, especially after a reboot.. I may just have to hang on to it a little while longer. You would think the people at Cricket would be able to disconnect that too, but according to the 3 people I spoke too, apparently not

Are custom ringtones working for individual contacts in the new build, or is it just whatever the default tone is set to?

it's still the same, although when my phone is in sleep mode, once in a while it rings to the ringtone i set, then later it goes back to default.

I got my Ascend and my gf's Ascend second hand from a work friend, and before that, I used a Moto Evoke I got from him. On all three phones, even though he already bough new phones and had them on his account, the old phones still had internet service working before I had them put on my account. I also could send MMS messages as him, but not txt. With the Ascends, you can download the APN Manager app and delete your number from the APN list to disable the MMS, as far as the internet, I don't know if you can stop it, but my only thought is to flash back to the stock rom and dial the reprogram number. *228. Dunno if that will work, though. Texting should stop working if you associate a new phone with your number.

You service provider have to manually go into the phone and program the phone number to the phone, even tho the phone is not active internet will still work via wifi, and also the number that was on there before you bought it will still be in the about phone, my number until you go get it activated and than thats when it will change cause the dealer will have to program the phone for service. And even if you revert back to stock or not, whatever prl that was on there will remain unless you dail *228 and update the prl which will put it to where it was before you push the prl update if you done it manually.

I mentioned flashing back to stock because on both my Ascends with the 614 CM7 the *228 prl update wouldn't go through. I had to flash back to stock, dial to program, and then flash back to my CM7. So I always keep a backup of the stock rom on my SD card.
With Cricket, though, it's more than just wifi. 3G and 1x internet continue to function even when the phone doesn't have service as long as the account the phone was last associate with is active. Even if the account has had a new phone assigned to it.

Ugh, that sucks. That explains the 3g situation. So, I cannot even sell this as a CM7 Ascend, I have to flash to stock for my buyer to be able to setup their account on the phone??

I'll try selling it with Icarus 1.1 on it. I liked that ROM, and it's almost stock, I would think they could do the flash update with basically the same firmware....

I have Huawei Ascend, Cricket, on 09132011 build. Been having two issues:
1. MMS sends scrambled texts, person that receives can't read it
2. SD card usually says it was unmounted after having it on awhile.

Are these known issues? How to fix?

I tried *228 as well but don't think this fixes it.

Hello everyone. I still have my Ascend running great and I love it. Thanks to everyone for all their imput into making these low end phones a better phone. But now I have got my eyes on the LG Esteem coming to my Metro store soon and may get it. But I gather it cannot be rooted as of yet. I sure love CM7 and dont like the idea of Metro bloatware; any ideas?

i have a rooted ascend running 2.3.5 cm7(which i like very much) ,i have been browsing and experimenting several root apps and other apps from aptoide, (example:setCPU, ASTRO, UnZip, App Manager and several other apps) to try and enhance my ascend. im currently using v4.5.0.1 ROM Manager. recently my phone has benn randemly rebooting and loop booting, but when i take out my 8 gig sd card its fine but without my apps. it also works fine with a different sd card. how can i find out whats the cause of this mess? PLEASE somebody help

Is this one a known issue? or perhaps just mine?

Call Volume resets to a certain unknown volume when receiving calls (not the ringtone, but when you pick up the call). When pressing the volume key, indicator dictates the setting I was at then the volume would adjust to actual setting. Its pretty minor, but it sounds like my girlfriend is yelling at me everytime I pick up the phone from her.

I just confirmed it making calls....called my voicemail and the prompter was loud, was able to hear with the phone inches from my face. Had to hit volume down then up, to bring the volume to my setting.

In other words, anytime I send or receive a call, I need to hit volume down, then up (or vice versa), otherwise, they are loud (to me atleast).

First off what rom do you have? i believe its the setcpu app that's causing the problem, because your phone has a max of what the processor can handle before it boot loops and keep rebooting and the app is probably set to external so it downloaded on your sd card. thats why when you take the sd card your phone works properly... you probably have to flash your phone again and be careful if its playfulgods rom because his 2 roms are set to default at 748 for 09/12/2011 and 710 for 09/13/2011.

thats the same thing i was thinking, so i jus formatted my card in a different phone and then booted backup in my phone, its not rebootin nomore, and im running 9/13/2011 as before but without cpu.....but now im havin a prob. clearing internal mem. and movin a2sd, i like cm7 its smooth, im jus stucv in a rut trying to get iot all tweaked out how i want it.....im workin wit ROM Manager cmw3.0.05

Did you partition the SD card after you formatted it? You can do it in ROM Manager, do 512/32 swap, and the apps should move to SD automatically.

My wife and I both have ascends with metro. I put cm7 on both and realized we have the same mac addresses. So I put bobz version on mine and got a different address. Now months later I would like the newer versions of cm7 but I dont know if they have the same mac address or not. I love cm7 could one of yall cm7 genuis please make two versions with diff mac addresses or pull the original mac address from the phone? I am very thankful for all you guys do.

I am having the same problem as "JonnyCash" I have basic apps, nothing fancy anymore. and everything was running good til I restarted my phone, last night i formatted my sd card, reloaded my nandroid my contacts and my text and caller id backup, did a full factory reset on the phone cleared cache, factory reset so on. did all that phone worked fine up to where i had to turn my phone off in a funeral parlor, now it wont stay on for more then 5 mins without restarting. i disabled wifi i disabled data, restarts, cleared system cache, restarts, took out battery just left it plugged in restarts... i even left it on the charger for 3 hours before turning it on it still restarts

any help?

Today I tried flashing ver. CM7.2 release 9122011 over PlayfulMod 1.1. and have two issues, first it appears CWM recovery (3.0.0.5) doesnt do a data wipe/factory reset, the new rom boots up fine but all my previous user apps are still loaded (and running) on the phone! I have flashed this a couple times but still no 'wifi'..and no factory reset. when reading thru the wiki I thought it says 'wifi working'? I like the ROM but I need wifi as I dont have this phone on a data plan now, Which version can I flash and retain wifi? And any idea why the phone wont reset thru recovery would be appreciated!

Are you wiping and formatting everything or are you trying to go straight over PlayfulMod? And yes wifi works. Has been pretty since the beginning....

Yes...wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache then data/factory reset wipe each time, only problem is the reset goes by so quickly, usually that step takes longer on my other phones, but it doesn't show any errors. I assume by 'format' you mean just these three steps or am I missing a step. Thanks again for your patience I am a bit of a noob on the Ascend.

After you wipe data, cache, and dalvik, go to "mounts and storage" and format everything except the sd card. Sd ext is okay but not the sd card. If you do it will wipe your sd card clean. Then once you flash CM7 and the gapps go back to advanced and slect "fix permissions" then reboot and you should be good to go.

got it...just did the wipes in reverse order and then toggled signature verification and I'm in! I guess the third time was the charm.Didn't have to format the mounts this time but thanks for the help shinyside!

I'm running 728 I love how much it does but it is really slow! It's hard to brag when my apps take up to a minute to open. Are there some settings I have wrong? Was I not suppose to remove previous roms from the sd card? I don't want to go back to stock but the speed with stock is super fast compared side by side. I know because my wife has the same phone hers is just rooted with no roms at all. She doesn't touch my phone which is OK but she also cracks jokes cause of how long it takes me to get in my apps! :-(

You probably have to much going on, on your phone. How many apps do you have? Is your sd card partitioned and running dta2sd?

I would. Just back up your sd card on to your comp and reboot into recovery go to advanced and select partition sd card. do 512mb and 32 swap. Once partitioned put your sd card into the comp move all your files back, put it back in the phone and reboot. If you flash the 3.0.2.8 recovery img when you make a back up it will back up all your apps on your ext also. Its also recommended that you have a class 4 or higher sd card. Partitioning it will take all your apps off the phone and put them on the sd and the swap will be used to free up RAM. You can also move all your dalvik to the sd which will free up even more room adn essentially make it faster.

This is thewring forum but need a metro user to tell me just boughtmy girl an evo on CL paid 100 for it not sure if the esn is good or bad but I can flashto metro either way right? anyone that can help let me know or put this thread where it belongs me buying her this phone is my way of being able to buy myself the esteen or the indulge without any headaches.
