For those that have a really lazy Ascend, that can't get the 710MHz or my latest 729MHz installed...here is an very low Over Clocked edition: CM7.1RC1-Ascend-BobZ672-070811.zip This version only goes up to 672 MHz, so those that have had problems in the past installing CM7, should be able to with this version.
NOTE: Format boot, system, data, cache, and sd-ext!!!

MarcNvidic - Dev working on the Huawei IDEOs. I've stol..er borrowed so many fixes from him. Big thanks to Marc.
Tom Giordano - The main man on the Huawei Pulse. He's pretty much the whole reason why I got CM6/7 on the Ascend.
Pip2kk (Etnie) - For letting me host my ROMs on this wiki and maintaining CM6.
Pcs209 - For the original USB Mounting fix.
Adefa - He made MMS his bitch.
PlayfulGod - For fixing the MetroOFF package to work with CWM3+, constantly testing new builds, and maintaining CM7-Ascend.

Bump, good start for new users if there not familiar with the ultimate guide yet. And also a big thanks goes to PG and BobZ for helping and maintaining cm7, and all the rest of the helpers/supporters of AF and the Ascend Community.

I suggest also in recovery mode before a flash to going into "mounts and storage" and do "format /boot" and also "format /system". Those two don't get touched when you do a "wipe data/factory reset".

Will be able to activate it. At first the cricket manager said there is something wrong with you're custom rom I can't activate it, I walked outside re dialed and it activated the phone.

If people are going to take my comments so seriously, perhaps they should have the sex change.
This isn't grade school. It's not that hard to properly punctuate. And if you're here asking for help, the least you could do is make it so those that might be able to help can understand you.
I'm not perfect, but I at least make the effort.

You can not activate at metro after you flash cm7 because we do not do over the air programming any more. we hit ##626* then manually type it in. Activate it stock then flash the rom. I have not figured out how to manually access the program page. If anyone knows how please be kind to help me as I've searched and havent found anything.
To be clear they can activate the MEID but cant program the phone with MDN or MIN

you didnt unzip it did you? if so there is your problem right there. The .zip files have to stay zip and move to the sd card.
So I don get the difference between the cm7, cm7.1 rc1,and cm7.2
can anyone help?
Most of it is performance improvements, background service improvements that aren't gonna be so noticeable,w/a few exceptions :
1) DARK TREMORS A2SD
2) SCREENSHOT built in,long press the call end button to access this.
Check out the CM7 WIKI & read the entire page.It gives a detailed account of the Genesis of CM7 for the ASCEND & all of the subsequent updates & improvements that are now a part of the most current build.

Correct, screenshot is a native feature in CM7 and I added dta2sd to my build
most everything else is stuff you want see or maybe even notice but all needed improvements.
I'll add a link on the wiki to CyanogenMod's changelog so those who want to read up on CM changes can.
I don't really know how to install custom ROMS on my phone at all so could you please give me a simple guide for someone who isn't tech savy. My phone is rooted and i was also wondering ifCyanogenMod 7 will be stable and run on my Huawei Ascend or should i get CyanogenMod 6?

Welcome to the forum. The instructions in the first post of this thread are about the simplest you're going to find. CM7 is stable for the Ascend. Most people here are using it. Some people prefer CM6, though. It really just depends on your personal preference. Good luck with whichever you decide on.

I dont think my phone likes custom roms :/
It wont work well with cm7.2
It wont load cm7 rc1 for lazy ascends
ugh. sometimes I wanna give up on my phone.
I'm trying to get up the nerve to go to CM7. I've read thru these instructions and the ones on the customization thread at least a dozen times. Did the video camera issue ever get addressed? Also, I think I read that Metro users no longer need MetrOff. Is that correct? Just trying to get to know the issues and their solutions.

the camera works just fine, its just the camera apps that doesnt seem to work well with cm7, but cm7 was never meant for our ascend, and also metro off is currently still needed for metro users, and it only takes 5 sec to flash it.
Is there anyone that know of a good audio booster? i have the bobzhome rom 07012011 and everything is still pretty low while i have my media and ring volume up to the max, thanks.

Got a few suggestions:
1) D/L the app VOLUME+(by MELTUS) Two versions are available w/the paid version(99 cents)promising to work much better than the free version. It's made specifically for CM7 & MIUI ROMS.
2) D/L POWER AMP
3) D/L & install the latest CM7 07282011 by PLAYFUL GOD.This ROM ROCKS(Nice work PG!).It has an audio enhancer built-in(DSP MANAGER).
However,if you're satisfied w/your current ROM,try GOOGLING the DSP MANAGER .apk & see if that works for you.

If you go to the home site for volume+, you can get the peo version for free. It's the best booster I've found. The quality drops at higher boosts though, so when you boost the volume, make sure in the preferences you choose "best quality" instead of rock, vocal, etc.

I went to flash to cm7 followed all the instruction to the t and rebooted my ascend and it goes pass the Huawei screen and passes the new ascend screen. Once it hits the screen with android on it, it gets stuck there and repeats metopcs over and over. What do I do ? I have taken out the battery and try a hard reset but that shows the unpacking screen with a yellow triangle and reads update failed. Can someone please help me. Now remember when I said that is was stuck well I meant that IT IS STUCK. tried vol up +end key+ power on and tried vol down + end key + power. I have tried pulling the battery and also pulling the sd card nothing still stuck on android screen and repeating ( metropcs ). Now if I take it to metro would they be able to hlep me ?

Okay, the same thing happen to me. What I did was went back into cwm and flashed the rom again but u don't need to clear the cache don't wipe or anything at all just go to install from zip, pick cm7 and install. Then when u reboot u should get to ur launcher but u will ñot have any Google apps. So when u let ur phone boot all the way, reboot back into recovery go to install from zip then install the gapps file. Then reboot.
Try this and see if it works. If not post and let me know.

thank but I have no idea how to get there to do that, when said that it was stuck, meant IT STUCK can do nothing to it. tried fast reboot, hard reboot, vol up + end key+ power on, nothing. tried it from the power off position then vol up + end key + power on nothing, just goes back to the screen with android on it and keep repeating metropcs. Confused, very confused, I went in and read similar threads and followed instruction and just with your advice followed to the tee and nothing. Do you think that if I take it to metro that they will be able to help ?
to get into recovery you press volume up key the green phone or the answer phone button and the power button. with the phone completely turned off do that.

Okay, so it's my first android phone, and I'm fairly tech savvy. Rooted the day I got the phone a little over 2 months ago. I finally decided that it was time to tackle getting a new ROM. Got everything I needed, (ROMmanager, cwm recovery, CM7) and started having problems booting my phone into recovery. Well I FINALLY got that to work, and the backup started and was going perfectly fine. Well it got to "Backing up cache... WeatherClockInfo1.xml" and FROZE. it's been stuck there for well over 15 minutes. Since I'm new to this, I don't want to brick my phone by pulling the battery... What should I do ?!

It sounds like you got a corrupted/incomplete download of CM7.
I've heard of this happening to others here. I would check some of the older threads here to find out how they resolved this issue.
Hi Nuttmeg,
Thanks for the tutorial.
Don't we have to Partition the SD card for cm7.2
since it installs DT A2SD or does it do it automatically?
If you haven't previously partitioned your SDCard, you'll need to do this to get the full benefits of DT's A2SD.
Keep in mind that you will need to back-up your card content to an external source (cloud, PC, etc.... ) before doing so, as formatting & partitioning your SDCard will erase everything on the card.
