Here is a solution from another forum.
"Your Username and password do not match. Please try again." Cannot fix this problem. help!
Yesterday, my gmail account was hacked into and I changed the password. I can easily access gmail through my home computer. However, as soon as I tried to access it on my Droid X the phone said the username & password did not match. It then had me go thru captcha screens which did not work. I repeated this process about 30 times.
Verizon had me pull the battery. Same problem, no solution. Verizon then had me reset the phone. Same problem. Now it tells me “Your username and password do not match. Please try again.” I am definitely putting in the correct information as I checked my computer and again got into gmail with no problems.
Verizon has no solution for this and instead points me to Google. How does one fix this? All I am trying to do is setup Gmail using my primary gmail account. As a test to see if my phone worked, I set up a secondary email account on my computer. This secondary account worked on my Droid with no problems.
I am pulling my hair out over this. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

i just had this problem with my droid 2 phone
im not sure if it is fixed the same way, but what i had to do was bring up the help screen and click on the link that said 2 step verification link that says signing in to your application and devices, then you scroll down that till you see the link that says "visit the Authorizing application &sites page" then you sign in just like you would on the computer and go down to the box and you would type your phone type in my case "android" and it will generarate a specific password with numbers and letters which then you take and enter in your phone as the password for your email rather then your password and then when you log in on the computer it would still be your same pass as you had originally changed it to. i hope this helps
any questions you can ask i can try to help my gmail now works fine on my computer and phone
