Default Not Happy With Prime

Ok, I may have jumped the gun a little with my prime purchase. I read reviews and went with the best tablet. However, I am not very savvy when it comes to tablets and the things I want to do are not available on the prime or they work better on the iPad2. Wondering if you all have suggestions to make my Prime experience more enjoyable.
  • KEYBOARD - when in tablet form the keyboard sucks. I saw someone here ask about swipe beta. Is that the way to go? Any other good keyboards to download?
  • WORDS WITH FRIENDS- why isn't there a paid version for android? I hate ads!
  • HULU - any word when this will be available ? Does it work on other androids?
  • MARCH MADNESS LIVE- the tourney is over, but i paid for it thinking I could watch games on my prime with no luck.
  • PDF EXPERT- the pdf expert app on the iPad2 is worlds better than what i have found available on android. It allows you to fill in forns AND accept signatures. All i have seen in Google Play are apps that do one or the other.
  • FORUMS - i cannot leave posts from my prime in other forums I frequent

Sounds like you should return it and get an iPad.

Best of luck with it!

Keyboard- use the thumb keyboard, am using it now, it is awesome
Words with friends- at least its free. If it hurts that bad, root and install ad block
Hulu- no answer
March madness live- typically when an app is purchased on a device with a different os than the one you want to use it on, chances are it will not work
PDF expert - I have the same issue
Forums- I don't understand this one. If you are looking for a good forum app try using tapatalk, alot of people on here and xda use it.

If all else fails and you are still dissatisfied, return it and move back to ios.

Thanks for the detailed response. What is the name of the thumb keyboard you use? And I think tapatalk will fix my forum issue. I also have no clue what rooting is, but I guess I should figure that out before complaining more.

THANKS

Welcome to the Prime. Sorry that your experience hasn't been as good as you expected. Here are some recommendations I can give you (and in some cases confirmations)

Keyboard - I use AI Type Keyboard. It is customizable and it can be used as a thumb keyboard or a floating keyboard. There is a free version you can get to try it out. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aitype.android.p&feature=search_res ult#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5haXR5cGUuYW5kcm9pZC5 wIl0.

Word with Friends - That is a good question to send the developer.

Hulu - This is definitely available now, as someone else already noted.

March Madness Live - Can't help you with this one, sorry. I don't even know what it is!

PDF - You should try out ezPDF. This is what I use and I've found it to be the best PDF reader/editor on Android. There is a free version you can try out. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=udk.android.reader.lite&feature=search_ result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsInVkay5hbmRyb2lkLnJlYWRl ci5saXRlIl0.

Forums - Tapatalk is the best app for this. I don't know why you're having problems, though. I visit forums using the Dolphin browser and have no problems posting.

Hope this helps!

The OP concerns seem more Android and app related rather than the Prime.

You may be in luck on the PDF front:
Adobe Mobile Reader 10.2 adds signature, form support -- Engadget
Quote:
The latest version of Adobe Mobile Reader for Android and iOS effectively negates that need for scanning signatures, delivering that functionality through an in-app Ink Signature tool instead. You'll also want to take Note of the free-hand drawing option, text markup feature, sticky notes, EchoSign integration, intra-document link and form support, search tool and thumbnail navigation -- all available in Mobile Reader 10.2.

Not sure if anyone answered the March Madness Live question yet, but AFAIK, there was no Android Tablet version of the app - it was for Gingerbread and Eclair phones only, and even then a limited subset of phones.

Next year I am hoping for an ICS version that will run more universally on both phones and tablets. This lack of a tablet version is why I didn't get the package this year.
