Notsure FlipBoard Not Compatible All of a Sudden

Hello All,

I am new to tablets and Droid, so I am pretty clueless...

I installed Flip Board when I got my Asus Prime last week, and it has been working fine. My tablet started getting wonky, so my brother suggested that I wipe it and set it to the factory defaults, so I did, and now when I try to reinstall FlipBoard, the Play Store tells me that it is "incompatible with my device". What gives? I am running Andriod 4.0.3 and I checked and there are no OS updates, so I am not sure what the problem is. Any ideas?

Thanks much in advance!!!

Well now I feel like a real DA...

The folks at FlipBoard wrote to me today:

"Currently, Flipboard does not support Android tablets. I'm sorry your device is not supported in the final release. Part of the reason for the beta test was to determine what devices we could support. I understand you may not have had issues with your particular device, but this does not mean that there were not problems in other testing with this type of hardware. </SPAN>

Ideally we would love nothing more than to support every device, but sadly, that's just not technically possible at the moment. People without compatible devices would have a poor experience on Flipboard.

Thank you for your understanding,"

I still think it is silly as it worked just fine for me! Darn.

I read online that you can install it anyway using something called an APK. Is this true, what is that exactly, and what else can I do with it?

An .apk is an executable file for Android (like an .exe file for Windows). All Android apps are .apk files. When you download an app from the Play Store, you are downloading an .apk file that Android then executes and installs.

You can install Flipboard from an .apk by downloading the latest version of the .apk file. I've attached the latest version of Flipboard to this post. Download it on your Prime and install it. If you are unable to install it, make sure that "Unknown sources" is checked in the Security section of the Settings menu.
