I was BT tethering with just PdaNet on my non-rooted DroidX, just enabled tethering options on the TF. I am glad though they have came out with an app for tablets.

Why should tethering be so hard?
I set up my Desire HD with the built in "Wireless hot spot" functionality and connect my Transformer to that network and done.
no extra apps, no bugs, just how it is supposed to be and everything works like I would be connected to a normal wifi router.
Why are there some many problems with tethering? People talking about operators blocking it... I really don't understand. My operator has no business looking at what I do with the 2GB's I pay for (prepaid 15 euros a month for calling, 2GB free and unlimited texts )

I agree about tethering when you are limited to the data to pay for anyways. I'm actually on the last network with true unlimited data (sprint). I still think i should be able to tether after paying $70 a month

Same here... I have tried everything short of rooting... This proxy app works great! It would be cool if other apps besides the browser would see the connection... but I'll take what I can get.

I was using PDANet until they disappeared from the Market for a while. Since then, I've been using Bluetooth tethering to connect my Transformer to my Droid X. Works every time, and no 3rd-party application needed. Neither device is rooted either.
I can't remember what the earliest firmware version is but one of the fairly recent updates enabled tethering to ad-hoc networks as 'standard'. I was easliy able to tether with my HD2 using wm6.5 and a WiFiRouter freeware programme. Easy peasy

Click on the 'Android Market' link in the first post.
From there you should be able to install the app to both of your devices. (I'm just assuming the Vizio tablet is an Android device).
I got it onto my tablet with no problem but when I click on it from my phone it tells me to log in to gmail but then keeps saying requested item could not be found. Any idea how to get the app on my phone?
Try going to the market using the app on your phone and search for it there.
It's possible that the app is not compatible with the Android version on your phone, which is why it's 'not found'. When you click on the Android Market link above, does the page say "this app is compatible with ALL of your devices" or "this app is compatible with SOME of your devices" ?
It doesn't say anything about being compatible. It just says it's going to download but when I click sign in nothing happens. I have an evo 4g. Any ideas suggestions?
Are you using that link on a PC or one of your Androids?
If on Android try a PC, it SHOULD work there. By the way, the log on it's asking for is your Gmail, which is only useful to know if you can get it to show you the login screen.
Well actually you have the apk on the device where you have it installed.
Use Astro File Manager to make a backup of the app. Then use it find the app in the 'backup' directory, long press and email it to yourself.

That answers a question then, I tether my eepad to my desire HD when im out and about via the wireless hotspot with no issues. When i was on holiday i was showing a friend of mine how to use her SII and in the wireless menu the hotspot wasnt highlight it was greyed out. I bought my phone factory unlocked.
Pdanet tablet is probably the best and easiest thing you can use for thethering your android phone to your android tablet.

I have a razr and transformer , both unrooted, I turn Bluetooth on and connect, I go into Bluetooth settings in my transformer and select the use Bluetooth with internet ( not sure exactly what it is called, but it is self explanatory ) and I serf just fine,

I'm so confused. I am having fits trying to get internet on my Asus via my Evo. I have used PDAnet to tether my laptop many times with no issues, but I cannot get it to work on my tablet. I have the PDAnet Tablet app installed on my tablet, but when I search for the same app on my phone in the market, nothing comes up. Am I missing something obvious?
Neither device is rooted. I have rooted my phones in the past, but didn't think I needed to root in order to use PDA net. If I root both these devices does it really make it easier to use my phone as a modem? How so? Thanks SO much for the help/advice.

I should add, when I use it with my laptop it's via USB (not BT). I am perfectly fine doing it with USB with my transformer, I don't need to do it with BT, I just want internet when I'm away from WIFI, I don't care how!! :-)
What app are you running on the Razr side? I'm just assuming that you have a tethering plan with your carrier, or the Razr would not share it's signal.
I have no app nor teather on my phone, I don't know how it works but it does, I have never stayed on it long I just connected via blue tooth and in the tablet settings it said use for internet I clicked it turned off the wifi and was online,

OpenGarden WiFi tethering didn't work, nor did the stock WiFi tethering on the Droid X: in both cases opening a browser on the Transformer showed me a Verizon page asking me to sign-up for their tethering service at $20/month
Finally, WiFi Tethering for Root Users (hosted by Google Code) worked, but only once I went into settings and enabled the "Routing fix"
So now I'm happy, although I do wish the app supported USB tethering so it would go easier on the phone's battery.

Well, the WiFi Tethering for Root users that made me so happy above occasionally works, but mostly doesn't. Most of the time I get the dreaded Verizon page asking me to sign-up for their tethering service.

Tethering my Transformer to my Nexus S or my Wildfire S has NOT been any problem - both work very well. Neither phones nor Transformer are rooted and no app program needed.

After reading through all this, I still can't figure out why anyone would tether their Transformer to a phone? I can see tethering the phone to the Transformer when there is no wifi available...but not the other way around

How did you get this to work. Pdanet tablet won't work with bluetooth on my Droid Charge as it says it requires 4.0 (ICS). And the Pdanet app for my phone won't connect with my transformer prime. The transformer prime pairs with my phone, but there is no connect option.

I think you have to "pair" on both the phone and the tablet.
