Re: New firmware update(update: I was behind and just got the .25 update)
It's possible. If the bootloader was unlocked, that would stop ASUS from pushing ota's to the device. Out of curiosity, what is your current build number on the tab?

Being rooted doesn't stop ota updates from being sent or installing. I've had my tab rooted since the day I've gotten it and have had no such problems. Only an unlocked bootloader will stop the ota's. It is quite possible that when you sent it in, they sent you back one that had it's bootloader already unlocked.

Not rooted.
I got the same tablet back that I sent in (with the same problems too, lol). Time to go yell at Asus again.
Btw, how do you root without unlocking? I was under the impression that rooting required unlocking and that it was irreversible.

I still haven't unlocked my bootloader, but I have been rooted for quite a while. There were exploits in the earlier builds of this tablet that allowed the user to gain root, but have since been patched. It might be to the point now that the only way to root is to unlock, but one use to be able to downgrade builds to one that had an exploit; even without the bootloader being unlocked. Don't know if it's still possible or not though.
It is possible that asus unlocked your bootloader to try and fix the issue, and did not notify you unfortunately. I'm sure it's easy to tell by hitting certain button combinations when it boots up to access fastboot mode or recovery.
