I have a Motorola Atrix 4G 4.5.91 which I would like to root; however, like many others it seems I have NO access to windows (a PC). I have Linux and I have Mac OS X; does any one have directions or a link for how to root a Atrix 4G from Linux and / or Mac OS X?

Just been going through some unanswered threads and came across yours... thought I'd try and help out.

I am not sure about actually rooting your phone, but have you considered dual booting in linux, so that you can use windows to root your phone?

If you have the Android SDK installed, as well as the fastboot tools, you can use the same method described in this link. Commands will work just the same.

[ROOT] 2.3.4 using fastboot

As long as your Linux install sees the phone when connected via usb, you should be able to use the above link to root it.
