Custom alarm ringtone selected, but not heard. Phone only vibrates!
Hiiiiiiiiiiiiii fellow Atrix users
I wanted a custom alarm, so I transferred an mp3 to a new folder on my SD card. I made the song available from two locations, and they both showed up as a ringtone:
They both show up and I can hear them play as I scroll over them in the ringtones menu, but I just can't hear the audio when the alarm goes off, the phone only vibrates (in both normal and silent mode). It works fine for the stock ringtones, though.... are there any limits to usable mp3's as ringtones? It's a small file, but is there a length limit?
As a side note, I tried storing the song on the phone's internal memory under "media" with the same issue. ....but now the option for the old ringtone (from when stored internally) is still there, and for some reason when I select it, it plays back a stock ringtone. Weird.

FWIW, I have a Moto Defy, which probably has the same alarm, and when I select "mp3" for the alarm, it just takes me to a list of all the audio files on mr sd card. I made no specific folders or changes. I've been using the full song (4min 1sec), 256bit mp3, of "Ballad of Dorothy Parker", without issue, for months.

Thanks, I do appreciate the input. Unfortunately, when I try to select "mp3" for the alarm, it shows me no list at all. Then when I press OK, it says "____.mp3" of the previous ringtone I had selected. I've been trying to see if there's any phone settings for this that may be disabling this feature, but I'm fresh out of ideas
I found this thread while searching for a way to change the sound the alarm makes on the Moto ATRIX™ 4G.
I cannot for the life of me find anywhere to change the tone/sound the alarm makes. Changing the ring tones or notifications I can find, but nowhere can I find a place to change the alarm sound.
Does anyone have any info on this? I've searched through the manual and there is no info (which is odd). When I adjust the loudness of the alarm it is quite loud, but when the alarm actually rings, it is barely audible.
I use the alarm to take my transplant medicine on time (had a kidney transplant) so it is imperative that I am able to change the sound the alarm makes so I can hear it; if the alarm sound cannot be changed, I may need to return my ATRIX™ (and I LOVE the ATRIX™)
Any and all help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

It's really simple. It's set at the alarm (Not globally). So, if you have multiple alarms, you'll need to change it on each one.
Go to alarms, and tap on the alarm that you want to change.
Right beneath the time is SOUND. Click the Arrow out to the side to pick a new sound.
If you want to use a custom sound (I find Ozzy's "ALL ABOARD" from the start of the song Crazy Train is a good attention getter.)
Just put a copy of the sound file (MP3 format works best) in the folder \media\audio\alarms (You may have to make that folder) on the main phone storage area, not the external SD card.

Thank you so much! You are a lifesaver! And I am so glad I don't need to get rid of my ATRIX™!
Thanks again,

The Motorola Atrix 4G brings several firsts to AT&T's lineup, among them a dual-core CPU in the form of NVIDIA's Tegra 2 platform. The CPU is clocked at 1GHz per core, providing enough zip to match the HSPA+ connectivity and 4G download... Read More
