Have you rebooted the phone yet?
If you can't get it to give you the "Shutdown" menu, just pull the battery out for about 30 seconds, put it back in, and then hit the FingerPrint scanner button to turn it back on.

Try these steps:

Go to settings, date & time.
Switch "Automatic" off.
Set timezone to some INCORRECT timezone ( say Greenland )
Switch "Automatic" on.

I think you replied to the wrong thread....

This has nothing to do with the time. He can't even get past the lock screen.

Actually, rahul255 is right. I had the same problem today after unlocking and this action with the timezone fixed it. Think about it - what changed in the last day that caused this to suddenly appear? The only thing here was the timezone going from daylight savings time to standard time.

If he just taps "Force Close", the dialog will go away and he can get into Settings.
