I know there was a bike thread started here and I KNOW there has to be some car heads here so here we go. Post videos of what in your opinion are some of the best sounding cars or bikes. I'll start off with two personal favorites of mine
Listen to the downshifts on the GT3 RS....I've heard downshifts similar in real life at the track here, brutal and heavenly at the same time! They're much louder than the video!
I have to say an air cooled porsche on the boost sounds way better...
As far as bikes, the Ducati desmosedici with termignoni pipes pretty well takes the cake....
I don't like the sound of boosted Porsches, I prefer to hear the wail of the naturally aspirated flat six throw on some straight pipes and I'm set
Just heard the Desmosedici with Termignoni pipes on Youtube...I can only imagine how it sounds and feels in real life when you're riding one
I just think that while it isn't a sexy sound, air cooled boosted flat sixes sound so raw and ragged that nothing tops the cacaphony. It is controlled chaos going on in there, and it sounds incredible
I've never liked the sound of the ducatis, meh, personally i think they are over-rated bikes. I love the sound of my R6 with my graves exhaust system. Laugh all you want but shifting with the bike screaming at 16,000 RPM with a straight-piped titanium race exhaust that has flames shooting out the carbon fiber can says holy sh!t.
Even though it is my avatar it's not one of my favorites I prefer to hear old RB straight sixes spooling up.
My brother has a CBR1000RR with Yoshi pipes that sounds pretty sweet.
Hehe, it's one of my favs. I'm a big fan of Japanese cars. I've seen a few of these bad boys on the road here in NY and the engine roars.. frickin LOVE it
Unfortunately, I could never justify spending $75,000 on a car.
I like inline four motors in a bike, BUT to me there is nothing like the sound of a v-twin or v-four in amotorcycle to get my blood pumping. Have you ever heard an old v-max on the boil? NASTY!!!

I love Infiniti's signature tune of the exhaust. Whenever I hear that tune, I know for sure it is an Infiniti. No other car can immediately make me think of a certain brand or model just by listening to what's coming out of its exhaust. It's like a trademark.
It isn't hard to argue. I would love to see exactly what cars were included in the research. I wish he would have included the link of the study, so it would be better understood. What is the sampling too? 10, 100, 1000, 10000? Too many unknowns to make this really credible. Even the blogger said that he takes it with a "grain of salt".
I've heard these cars driving around before and they do sound nice but I don't think it can be definitively said that it is the best sounding car. It's subjective just like music

I was on the road riding my bike (colnago, not motorcycle) and just crested a hill, was tired and had my head down. I hear a "sport bike" (Ducati?) coming in the other direction, in angry mood. As it got closer, I lifted my head...turned out to be a Ferrari F430.

That Dahlback Golf is a monster on steriods, having its period.
EDIT: I take that back, this is the ultimate beast
Man F1 needs to bring the V10s back
HAHA, as soon as I saw your first vid I went to find/post the top gear one. Get back to the site and you beat me to it lol....

LOL, I remember watching that...but I beg to differ. Alonso's Renault wasn't the "fastest" that year, but had the best TC system (was also an Adrian Newey design no?)...so technically, it was "easier" to tame than some of the other cars on the grid.
+1 on bringing back the V10...although racing would be more of a battle of $$$ again. That, or the 1.5L F1 Turbos.
Awww H3LL...was looking for a vid of the BMW 1.5L, and found this article:
Crazy to think THAT had traction control. The ones today don't. I don't think that was Newey design, he was with McLaren.
I'm pumped that F1 is coming back to the states, I'm planning on getting tickets for 2012.
Meh not big on twin-turbo four cylinders but I'll hold my judgement. As long as they don't make it a spec series I'm fine. F1 is the pinnacle of automotive technology and should remain to be so. IndyCar is switching to twin-turbo fours too I think.
I am a huge fan of VW/Audi hot rods. I had two different vr6 powered cars, multiple older GTI beaters, and currently have a 2001 Jetta 1.8T with an APR custom flashed chip. Everything else on my car is stock, so it is not great sounding, but I can get my traction control to kick in at 75 mph on dry pavement without turning too sharply. It is absolutely hilarious to roll by fast cars and they can't catch me!!!!! All while getting close to 30mpg. I love my dub!
I really want to get a hold of the Lexus LFA. First ever Japanese supercar that has the most beautiful interior that I've ever seen for a car like that. It actually looks extremely luxurious, modern, and futuristic. If I ever see a guy, or girl, driving that car... I may have to commit my first of many murders. :P
Lmao. It's truly an engineering masterpiece. It may not be fast enough to justify the price but the engineering is. The level of detail on every single inch of the car is amazing. Toyota built custom machines just to make the car. They have a carbon fiber machine that they built that is one of only a few in the world. The engine revs so quickly they had to put in a digital tachometer so it could keep up with the engine revs. Hell they even sent the car to Yamaha's music department to tune the exhaust lol.
It would actually be a better investment in the long than a Murcielago probably. I forgot the number but the LFA will have very limited production (probably because they can't find enough people to spend $300+ on a 'Yota). I'll still take a 599 GTB over it, investment be damned lol.
Ummmm, Yeah. I loved the Supras. What a pure car. A great motor, suspension to match, and not much else. A true sports car. And, at the time, they were relatively cheap....

Toyota needs to bring back the Supra.
Lexus is sculpting ONLY 500 of these worldwide (20 a month). I think for them it's more of an experiment. The thing with me is that luxury > performance. The Lexus LFA supercar is the most luxurious and beautiful supercar that I know of. I've seen interiors of the Ferrari and Lamborghini cars and they look so bare. At least the Audi R8 has a beautiful interior also.
I forgot that Yamaha fine-tuned the sound of the LFA. I wonder how many other companies can actually say that.
I'm sure that the Lexus LFA will be an icon for future Japanese engineering. If I had to buy any car, that would be it. I believe that in the long run, the Lexus LFA will have a lasting impact vs. what Ferrari and Lamborghini are churning out at the current moment simply because of the LFA being the 1st of its kind. I know that the Lexus LFA has been in the making for a long ass time. The very first concept model came out in 2005, so Lexus has been seriously thinking about this car for at least 6-7 years. They had to basically start from scratch too. It's very impressive that Lexus could produce such an exquisite supercar like this on their very first attempt.
If I had the money to just spend, then the Lexus LFA would be the car to get. I don't think that Lexus would really have a hard time at all trying to sell 20 of these per month worldwide. Any supercar enthusiast, with a ton of money, would be crazy to give up on this opportunity. This car is literally writing itself in the history books.
Audi 80
So sweet it sounds almost as nice as my motorbike...
As you have noticed from my prior posts, I am particular to the VW/Audi mark. This is one of the coolest old school audis I have ever seen. Thank you very much for posting this vid, it gave me goosebumps watching it. I have had a few old Audi 4000's in my time as well, and beat the ever loving pi$$ out of them for months on end.

Word...on top of the G60, which I need to get rebuilt after putting in my "2nd" motor (should have gone with the VR swap), I also have a 20th.

Meh, I have to repair/replace my supercharger, and was considering a Lysholm (screw), but I dread the thought of my car sounding like a "fire engine siren"...there are scilencer kits for it however, but whatever floats your boat.
I never like'd M-B, but I'd rock a "CLK black" anyday (minus about 800lbs):
