Welcome to Ice Cream Scamwich v2.0. Heavily improved from the last release. Implemented a bunch of ICS/CM7 functions, and this thing is a long ways from its original gingerbread home.
I thought you all might enjoy some new stuff. Totally stable and fit your everyday use.
This currently does not change your kernel. This means if you are overclocked, then you stay overclocked. If you have stock then you stay stock.
This ROM is/has

Screen Timeout-works, but FC status bar during the switch. I just take both of these out of my panels.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS IN CWM
Download IceCreamScamwichv2.zip
Navigate to your recovery (vol up+Menu plus Power On.)
MAKE A BACKUP!!! BAKCUP WHAT YOU GOT. just in case. always make backups before you flash anything, as a good rule of thumb. Wipe your dalvik cache, and the cache.
(optional- wipe DATA. You dont need to , but it may not be perfect, so...)
Select "Install Zip from Sdcard"
Chose IceCreamScamwichv2.zip.
let it do its thing.
Ive included some apps from the Stock merit (live wallpaper, etc). Ive installed wallpapers, books and a couple others. Anything not here you can get at the play store.
This is NOT CWM flashable. download it, unzip and put the apps you want on your sdcard. Some apps have to be copied to system/app and some can be simply installed by long pressing in the file explorer. You can figure it out(wallpaper had to be on /app)
WARNING-IF YOUR PHONE BREAKS I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE. Nor is anyone at this site. This stuffs worked for hundreds of people, so you shouldn't worry about that, but i didnt break it. enjoy .
THANKS TO !!
Lidroid- For the toggles. You sir are genius
Hansip87- Swipe to Remove notifications
balamu96m- Settings redesign
Bloodawn- Porting Lidroid to the ZTE warp, which gave me a good base idea. Also might have ganked some pngs now that I look at it.
EVERYONE who posts guides, tutorials, how-tos, etc. You guys rock and this wouldnt have happened if you didnt decide to be hlepful and share knowledge. So Thanks
(..some more I gotta dig up)
i've tried to flash this rom several times and it just hangs on the AT&T logo and never goes beyond that. the v.1 rom was only around 50 megs anyway so was the complete rom not uploaded? i also tried the OC version and it aborts everytime. any help would be appreciated.
The OC one has to be unzipped, then that folder put into /sdcard/clockworkmod/backups/. Not flashed.
what recovery are you trying to use and what is your current setup? if you are using stock recovery did you rename this to update.zip and click "apply sdcard update"?

yeah reading is fundamental. i missed that part about it being a CWM backup. no i have it working but the only problem i'm having now is that i can't seem to get the cronmod script to work anymore to expand my internal memory onto a partition on my sd card. i would really like to get that working. still trying
Why this rom is only 49.28mb? Until now, they were all over 80mb and more. Do you need to unpack (no OC)?
Do you think it will work on the European roamer, or do we wait for the European version. If it be (I hope so)? I will definitely try this as soon as I can, within the next week.
Congratulations on your success, I'm glad that we finally get ICS, and we now have more ICS roms.
And finally thank you very, very much, a lot of the hard work.

It's not true ICS, but it is really close. This ROM is about as close as the Z990 will get until we can build a kernel that's compatible with ICS.
adambarrios, please, let us know when you sucessfully get to expand internal memory to an partition of the sd card like you mentioned, in my opinion, this script is the only thing I think is missing in this awesome ROM. Btw, thanks out of ideas for the ICS feeling!

oh ok good. I managed to recreate the "rethink possible" stuck problem. i downloaded one.three and tried to install over that and get caught there. im thinking i need to add a boot.img for you guys.
Question-can you install the scamwichv1 zip on top of the CWM backup and have it work?(load the backup, then flash .zip) that would help narrow it down.
I should have it sorted by morning.
LUCHI- Thanks. did you manage to install this on avail or merit?
Edit-its a smaller file becuase I inadvertently set the compression level higher. still installs fine over merit.
I just tryed to load it. Stuck at the att. Im on the att avail. Its a no load for me.

Reason: Tryed to go back to CWM, phone would not power up. Hit the reset button by the camera. I can get in to CWM now but its like
Just tryed to go back to CWM and reinstall last rom. I was not able too. I hit the reset button next to the camera then was able to get in to CWM. I reinstalled last rom, and its like boot looping. I tryed to install a rom I had on the sd card same thing. Now its like the battery is dead and I cant do any thing. Trying to charge the batt and see.
mike-why the reset button? I usually just pull battery and put it back in then go to cwm. Is it bootlooping the att screen or the ics panels? Do nandroid CWM backups still install fine? luchi-good. The install from zip version right? what steps did you take. still trying to narrow this oddness down.
It killed my batt. Dont know what happened or if it was a bad download. I did pull the batt. It would only power up as long as i had it pluged in. I ended up haveing to do a T-card flash. But its fresh as can be now. In the batt stat, It showed as a full charged batt then down to 0 when I flashed your rom. It didnt show it as charging also. But all is good now. You just cant kill this little phone...
Got it working. I'll see if i can get it up tonight, but ive already changed a few other things, and am in the middle of other changes so it might wait till the weekend.
Installed CWM6 found on this site on a stock T card flash (ATT Avail).
Downloaded IceCreamDreamOC.zip and unzipped using winrar then copied to the /sdcard/clockworkmod/backups as instructed in post #3.
did the restore after partitioning and all installed just fine.
Rom is fast and updated looking the only thing I've noticed in this short time is the confirmation selections text is grey and almost matches their background.
I installed this over an avail rom, and it worked fine. i added some important things for you guys to have. Make sure to do some wipes and BE PATIENT!. i almost gave up because it sat on the att screen for about 5 minutes. But then it kicked onto my ICS boot and loaded up fine. Did some more tweaks and such too.

Thanks. i suggest trying the 1.5 version. lots of theme changes from that version.
KODO mazda enginners term for (soul in motion). I have to say this is the best designed rom we have for this phone. I can tell you have really put some time in to this. The bar has been set very high now and I would like to put out a challenge for all the other devs of our phone. BUT with that said, This rom on my phone has the Lonzo effect. Its haunted. After shutting it down for the night, it restarts on its on about 3 to 5 mins later. I had the same problem with Jamies last rom also. I do like this rom other then that. Great work
Also Im haveing a problem with playstore. When I go to search at the top of the page, I get a Force Close. I have to down load apps from my pc.

I am having the same problem as mikec628 mentioned.
Clearing google play's data and cache didn't solve the problem, neither uninstalling and installing the app again.
EDIT- forgot to say that I agree that the bar were set higher, get astonished every time with the level of details enhanced! impressive work!

Another problem that I got is with the GPS system, it is constantly in use, I can't stop the GPS even if I shut it down in "settings" (or in the power widget), being the reboot the only temporary solution.
I mean temporary because after rebooted the phone, whenever an app that uses GPS starts, the GPS starts again and doesn't stop, draining all my battery.
I had this problem in the James' speedfreak 2.0 and when I migrated to scamwich 1.5, I just installed one app to see if this would happen, and happened again.
I did multiple instalations (all of them wiping data, cache and dalvik before instalation and cache and dalvik after) and tried one app per instalation to see if it was the app, but this problem appears with any app that uses the GPS.
I did a logcat and tracked down the search thing. It also does it if you hit local search in music. I'll be throwing up an update to the theme later, so i'll put the fix for play store in there.
as for the GPS thing, that must be your phone. mine is never on, when i try using anything(weather channel, radios, etc) it cant find me. some phones have their own individual quirks. you might have got one.
Also, when most any rom is first loaded onto these phones, wifi is set to on, and background data and GPS. That's just how it goes. same thing when it came out of the box. So I'd recommend everyone turn those off so your batt doesnt drain quick.
A little theme update and fixed play store search issue.(not a whole rom, you need 1.5 for this to even work)
Oh i also added ICS camera, because I got panorama working. And how awesome is panorama on a $80 phone? i also still like MIUI camera for the burst mode which is awesome for kids or animals and moving stuff. So it is up to you to delete which ever one you want. try em out and let me know which one I should keep.
Did you find any thing about the Lonzo effect? The restarting about being turned off.

Reason: Ok Im guessing you did fix it. Its been off for a while and its not restarted. Thanks for the update.
where there is the date and the three icons do not appear so, I get only two icons. and worst q des squares, one above and one below.
The third icon is the new clear button. that layout is odd. what does it look like when you rotate the screen? same? maybe try a cache wipe. ill take a look around code and see if anything jumps out. But mines not like that so I dont know for sure yet.

and what toggles do you have there?
Found the error, the phone language I use in Spanish, that's the problem in English is normal, while in Spanish it is incorrect icons: D
anyone having any luck downloading? MediaFire stops downloading at 100-150KB. it just stops. then cancels out. it seems to start fine but just quits after that amount. not sure why

cool, glad you figured it out. If you're handy with apk tool, you could decompile and copy the proper values and xml over to xml-es and values-es. i might put it on my to-do list, but its got a lot a head of it.
since im stuck in some smali, i decided to play around with the theme.
ATTN: out of ideas - can you take the time to give me some help?
I recently put Cyanogenmod 7 on my ZTE Avail and modded it with Phydeux's ROM. I would like to try your ice cream dream OC'd ROM and update with your latest Icecreamsamwichv 1.5. Can you tell me how to remove Phydeux's ROM and replace with yours. I would like to either keep Cyangenmod 7 or add it back when I change. I don't know exactly know whether I need to completely wipe the phone, or how to proceed. I already downloaded IceCreamDreamOC.zip and IceCreamSamwich 1.5.zip.
I think by CyanogenMod7(CM7) you are actually talking about ClockWorkMod(CWM5, or CWM6) is it a black screen you have to acess by holding down a bunch of buttons? .
if so keep reading, if not explain more.
CWM is a recovery, it lets you back stuff up and other cool things. ICScamwich and phydeux rom are ROMs. its what your phone looks like and does when its on normally. they are separate, and you would keep your CWM after replacing with my ROM.
if you want the overclocking and the latest rom, follow these directions.
I would recommend wiping your data before you do all this, but a CWM restore should get everything. You will lose everything, so backup your contacts to sdcard, get an app if you want texts and call logs saved, etc.
unzip the IceCreamDreamOC.zip. Inside is one folder, i think it has the same name, havent opened it in a looong time. But either way, take that folder, put it on your sdcard in the folder /clockwordmod/backups/. You should have other ones with numbers in there if you have made a backup before.
Put IceCreamScamwichv1.5.zip anywhere on your sdcard. DO NOT UNZIP!!!!!! Just leave it EXACTLY how you downloaded it.
Now boot into CWM recovery on your phone, select backup/restore, pick restore, pick the ICECREAMDREAM one and let it restore. You should reboot your phone and see that it is different from what you had, but doesnt look like these screenshots.. Thats great! almost done.
Now hold down the power button, pick power off, and it will bring up the extended menu i put on. pick Recovery and it will boot you into CWM without having to turn off the phone or get an app. Select "install zip from sdcard", pick scamwichv1.5 and let it install then reboot.
Oh, you'll also want the theme update at the top of the OP. it fixes a couple things.

I still have to say over all this is the best designed rom we have for this phone. Again thanks. I still would like to challange all the other guys doing roms for this phone to raise the bar even higher then this one.
The OC one has to be unzipped, then that folder put into /sdcard/clockworkmod/backups/. Not flashed.
what recovery are you trying to use and what is your current setup? if you are using stock recovery did you rename this to update.zip and click "apply sdcard update"?
I am using stock recovery (I think, my recovery background has en exclamation point in a triangle), and have changed the file name to "update.zip", but still get "Installation aborted". Then, since I figured the file was zip file anyway, I tried just having the files be named "update" but that didn't work, either.
EDIT: I think I did all the steps, I selected all the options in my recovery menu. First, I did the factory data reset, then I I did the partition cache clear or something, and then I tried to install "update.zip".

Any idea why your icecreamdream ROM would randomly reset my ZTE Avail? When I turn it off, it doesn't stay off. IceCreamDream 1.0 and 1.5 installed just fine with your instructions. I am just curious about the random turning on.

Not my ROM. roms wouldnt do that. are you going through the power menu and selecting "shutdown"?.
maybe your power button is wonky, or if you have it plugged in, the cord may fall out and it turns on. These phones have junky USB ports.

the one with OC has to be unzipped. the one with v1.5 does NOT. repeat dont unzip.
If you followed those fine, its probably a bad download or transfer. What else does it say when its borted?

I do have to say yes there is problems with roms causing this. When i was on james speekfreak and the first rom from cwwilsons rom (not 2.1.2) I had this same problem. Turn the phone off. 30 secs to 4 mins later the phone would start back up.
Well that shows that it is definitely not this ROM. and as they are three different roms, based off different starts, there isn't much in common with them.
I would almost think MAYBE a kernel could do that, but again, we have different kernels.
The merit would randomly reboot on some people, maybe the avail has the reverse problem. I dont know and can't troubleshoot your guys phones in this thread, start a new one maybe.
again, not this rom restarting your phones.
back to regular programming....

I dont have that problem on your rom or cw's new rom 2.1.2 It was just them two roms I had the problem with. Ive never had a problem with roboots or any thing eles that pleaple said they had problems with....
Looking forward to your new work, with this rom. Keep up the great work.
my wifi stays on fine for an hour plus. I switched alarm clocks for the next one, so ill have to take a look at it.
If its busted ill fix it for 2.0.
and thanks to everyone enjoying it so far.
EDIT- just thinking here, but might have something to try for your wifi. open file explorer, go to /system/build.prop. look about halfway down for this line(without the " " )
"wifi_supplicant_scan_interval=150"
put a # in front of that line and reboot and check the wiFi. maybe your phone isnt remembering the connection or something. these things are buggy.

I dunno yet. hopefully next week sometime. I already fixed the settings shortcut, added power toggles, and a few other things. Just kind of polishing up theme stuff.

I read somewhere on this forum that ringtone files and such are stored in the System directory on the ZTE Avail. If this is not correct, could someone please telll me where they are located? I scanned the System directory, but didn't find anything that looked like a sound file. I want to add some .mp3 files to use as ringtones and I need to know where to put them so my Avail will recognize them.
