Could this have to do with the updated firmware. I'd like to try this root method, but I just updated the firmware to the FD02 today. Has anyone done this with this new firmware?

I have done it with FD02 and had no problems. I reflashed FD02 before i rooted in the video that i believe is in the first post.

Easiest way is flash the .md5 file in odin then run SuperOneClick to obtain root. I had problems with ADB.

Can anyone confirm that this still works now on 2.3.6? And where can I get a ICS or JB rom?

Yes, it still works, and the only way to get an ICS or JB ROM is to build one yourself. There is no development happening for this phone. The GSIII was announced shortly after the Aviator was released, so everybody who WOULD have worked on getting ROMs ported over jumped ship for it.

WELL GOT IT ROOTED ONCE I FIGURED OUT YOU NEED THE DRIVERS FOR THE PHONE! FOR ODIN?? WORKED PERFECT!!
