Default Recommended Nook Simple Touch Apps

It looks like I am the first poster here. I finally decided to Root my Nook Simple Touch after months of using it as a reader. I added a few apps like Checkers, Solitaire, Root Explorer, RPN Calculator Financial and a Screen Off widget, plus the built-in apps that came with Touchnooter. What other Apps and Widgets do you recommend?

BTW I also have an Android phone and Tablet, so am using this for simple apps, maybe email and games when I have idle time. My favorite apps so far, stock BN reader (of course), ADW launcher and Tiny Battery Widget. By making ADW launcher the default for the home button, I have eliminated the annoying BN Home page which made rooting worth the effort for me.

i would also like some suggestions on this. i have not rooted mine yet for reasons like this. thinking it may not be worth it if there arent many apps to use or that will work with the nst.
hope more people respond and convince me to root. thanks

I found some discussion on rooting the Nook Simple Touch and working apps on Nook Touch Working Apps List | The eBook Reader Blog - eReader and Tablet Reviews and News

here's what's working (and not) for me- it's different than the list posted at "Nook Touch Working Apps List" mentioned above.

Overall, expect slower response than you are used to on all apps, and screen flicker as it paints new info to the screen...e-ink isn't designed to work like this, i think...

I still have problems with Search function in Market/Google Play- but not in Amazon Android market. Followed all the instructions to install new apk, still doesn't work correctly.

ES File Explorer works well. Gmail (comes with most rooters) works perfectly for reading/reviewing, but responding with NT keyboard can be challenging.

Moon Reader works perfectly- the buttons work exactly as in the stock BN reader. Aldiko versions 1.X and 2.0 (both free and premium versions) ran once after being installed, then will not open. Haven't tried all the old versions of Aldiko yet, perhaps one works- but I haven't found it yet!!

Many items that are 'stock' android will not work very well- keyboard gets cut off, etc.. This includes Google Voice, Talk; browser also gets weird on occasion- but still useable.

Opera works (the mobile version, not Opera Mini- Mini will not run for me), but must be uninstalled and reinstalled to function. Dolphin browser works; too early to say how well...

Words with Friends works reasonably well- some screen cut-off problems, but still works reasonably well. Screen flicker is very noticeable, but manageable as long as you don't freak out when you see it...

Wiki Encyclopedia works perfectly; haven't tried Google Maps yet.

Obviously this is just my experience- your mileage will vary! fyi, currently using touchnooter from XDA.

I know this thread is old, but it came up for me while trying to research this same problem.

Here's what I've found that fixed these issues for me: Make sure that you are using at least a Class 6 micro SD card. Lower class cards cause the problems that you mention. It took me quite awhile to figure this out. Hope I save others some hassle.
