Default Frustrated

I haven't had this nook color for more than 24 hours and it is already frustrating me to the point where i am tempted to take it back, pay 70 bucks more for an android tablet and call it a day.....

I am trying to do everything in this video and i follow all the directions and everytime i try to boot into recovery my nook doesn't boot in recovery....it just goes right into the nook interface.

I have been at this for about 3-4 hours so far and it's a bit crazy because all I am trying to do is get it to where I can use android apps....but i can't do that...
Any help would be welcomed...

I'm trying to root and get into recovery FIRST but i am not having any success

Root Nook Color 1.4.2 (Manual Nooter) - YouTube

Make sure you have a Nook Color and not a Nook Tablet.

Find the headphone jack at the top. If there's a pinhole microphone next to the headphone jack, you have a Nook Tablet, which means a different procedure.
