You cannot just install three vending apk, that must get flashed with the other Gapps, as for upgrading to 2.3 that will most likely require a custom rom if one exists. For that check out the HTC magic android development section on xda-developers.com (if it exists). I had backflip but not a magic, so I do not know what is possible on the magic. Did you check the HTC magic section here?
