That has been out foir a while. I hope it is true. The problem is the guy works for motorola, so he has keys and access we do not; and untill he finds out how they work so he can make his own, he will not release anything.

Here is a link to another "programmer " who is working on the root and that guy to try and root the backflip

That guy doesn't seem to be helping, and it seems he is BS the only group actively dev'n for this phone is at Backflip#Dev: Lastest Posts they have tried all the known exploits and not are working, but are investigating further.

From looking there is a Dev signing key in the source code on the Moto website.
Or at least there was. I have a copy of that key, and I think that is what he is talking about. What I think he is saying is that the backflip will except roms signed with this key. But I think moto might have pulled the key down, but I still have a copy. That being said, I don't know enough to try it. Also, from looking at the rom notes, I think they crippled source so that if you load a custom rom you break ADB software loading.

The key is in the build.tgz file, it was in target\product\security named testkey.x509.pem

but, we have 2 problems
