Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Installed and got running with no problems!

This is so amazing! Can't wait for the vibrate fix when it gets here! I also noticed that the buttons on the bottom of the phone get lit up when you touch the screen? Is this something that could be fixed?

Ya, I believe that will come with the vibrate fix.. it currently acts pretty funny during phones calls too if you didn't notice.

Sooo, after getting this installed with no problems, I did decide to flash ODIN and go back to factory settings.... just until the last few little bugs get worked out! As minor as they are, I get frustrated really easy if things don't work right! lol.

Will do this all again hopefully within a couple days, when it all gets sorted out!

i noticed that about half of my songs can no longer be played in the music player, and that the ones that wont play have 1 or 2 numbers in front of them. Any luck on getting wifi tether working, I tried it and I could only conect with local not with local and internet???

I have not had chance to try a lot yet bet everything I have tried has worked fine for me. I can't believe how much faster the phone is.

Wireless worked fine for me.

Battery life has taken a big jump for me. I have a lot more auto updating happening now than on the stock behold 2 and can easily see that the battery is draining a lot slower.

Keep up the great work! I can't wait for future updates.

Exclamation Galaxy/Stock android _____Question about Batt. Life

Hello all, i too am waiting for the few bugs to be kinked out before i do this , but i want someone that has done it to verify something with the battery . After you fully charge it , and are running the Galaxy/Stock Mod. Wen the battery is fully charged and you take it off the charger, does it drop like 5 percent withing the first 2 minutes ??? it does that on the stock behold 2 but i wanna see if this fixes that problem. Thank you.

Default I must have missed something?

I followed the initial instructions earlier today and my phone sort of works, but I keep getting the message "process android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly..." and a force close. When I first booted the phone I did a factory reset, and the touchwiz crap is definitely gone and I could get around the phone fairly well (browser worked, moving through menus fine, even connected to my wifi), but I couldn't download anything from the market. I tried another wipe, and now the media process message is incessant... is there anything I can try aside from an odin restore?

Thanks

Okay I tried to input the first line of the code

"cat /sdcard/try3 > /data/local/try3" ... then enter

and I got back "The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect"

anybody know what I'm doing wrong?

I have the path at c:\Document and Settings\My Name\Desktop\android-sdk-windows\tools>

I also verified that my device is installed and recognized

adb devices

This means u didnt copy the libraries properly.. try this:

# Get Root
cat /sdcard/try3 > /data/local/try3
chmod 777 /data/local/try3
/data/local/try3 /system/bin/sh

# Remount system read write
mount -o rw,remount /dev/st9 /system

cd /system
cp -pr libmodules.b2/* libmodules

then factory reset, no need for reboot first.

It should be. If possible jump on irc so we can debug it. Speaker phone is 'beta' if you like

click live chat above and once logged in type /j #behold2

Or join freenode on irc and join channel #behold2

Finally got galaxy/stock on my Behold and I must say it is zooming fast but there are some hiccups.

1. Contacts - I get an acore force close when I try to open contacts

2. Camera, Video, Music - When I try to open any of these apps, I get a media force close. "process media has stopped unexpectedly"

3. Also under settings/sd card & phone storage, my external total space is unavailable although it shows all 7.2 gigs under internal space.

After master reset my internal phone storage is 142 MB - which is a good thing

p.s. Making a call I get "phone has stopped working unexpectedly" error which of course disconnects me if I press okay

YOU MUST, I STRESS MUST do a factory reset after this process. Otherwise you will get eratic behaviour and force closes.

If you still get force closes you missed a line in the instructions. Please follow this:

http://androidforums.com/samsung-behold-2/35487-galaxy-stock-android-behold-2-flies-3.html#post263426

Force close = u didnt factory reset or u missed that line.

Default Diner Dash 2 gone

The 30 second demo of Diner Dash 2 is gone. Noooo! How could you do this to me?! My phone is super speedy but what will I do with it now? May as well be a brick without precious Diner Dash 2 Demo.

Hehe. Excellent work.

Guys, if you can't follow these directions, I suggest not doing this or risk an unusable phone. I haven't tried myself yet, but a bit a googling and forum searching should explain what things like odin & adb are.

or a one click option you know make it like an app in the market then it just auto resets your whole phone to flash galaxy but I have a feelin that 2.x is gonna be airborne in just a few weeks.

I would suggest for anyone who hasn't tried this yet because they're afraid or because you're waiting for 2.0+ to go ahead and do it... The speed is just ridiculous. There is no more 1 or 2 second delay to open messages, apps, videos, etc. Literally no delay and i'm not exaggerating.

As long as you have ADB setup then there is no risk in doing this... all it modifies is the /system folder (which is the OS) your BOOT partition stays the way it is so if you screw up you can always flash back your original software.
There is no chance of bricking your phone.

I have no issues what so ever with the new firmware. Speed is incredible and everything works. The 1 thing that doesn't work is Vibration. Everything else is fine. I even noticed a speed improvement when downloading/installing apps from the market.

Here is a guide to getting ADB to work: MyHangoutOnline - Tutorials, Downloads, Roms and More.
Here are the Behold II drivers for Windows (not necessary for linux, mac): MyHangoutOnline - Tutorials, Downloads, Roms and More.

Once you have that setup just open a command prompt window (plug in your phone to computer) and type: adb devices

If you're device is listed then you're ready to go!

Follow the instructions on the first post and you'll be good to go. The only thing i recommend is, do a FACTORY RESET BEFORE AND AFTER the instructions.

No, you can use custom ringtones... just place the MP3 on your sdcard inside the media (or audio) folder... inside that there's a ringtones folder i believe

Touchwiz IS good for first time android users... but I come from the G1 Cyanogen family so TouchWiz just blows balls for me. lol. Complete system Hog and i'm so glad it's now gone.

Im working on trying to get the drivers from the source, mix it in with android 2.0 from the SDK and throwing it on the behold... hope it works :P

This issue right now is with the RILD library and converting messages from the OS level to the modem and back... until that is resolved, you won't have anything other than a pda.

Anyone interested in assisting with this project join us in #behold2 and #i7500 on freenode.

Is there a backup process or an easy way to restore them?

The biggest hangup right now is RILD... so if it is, in fact, on the galaxy, then the porting shouldn't be an issue for any 2.x build...

For those who dont know what rild and the associated problem is:

Why cant we port android 1.6 or 2.0 to the galaxy? google released the source code

Though Samsung has released the kernel source for this phone, so wouldn't that help with the rild problem?

They didn't release the entire code. Their RILD implementation is way down at the baseband level and I'd assume it's shared by many of their phones, not just android based ones... so it's proprietary and they're keeping it under wraps.

Ahh, so I guess it back to waiting for the official update which would probably contain a binary driver or some other black box device for the rild.

We're working on an alternative at the moment... it just will take some time.
