Odin files for the 1.6 OEM update are now available! All necessary files and instructions are included in the download. To use the update you will need a Windows PC, USB cable, your Behold II, and about 5 minutes.
Click "Save file to your PC" near the bottom right.
Windows 64 bit (Vista and after) - FYI
A new "security feature" in Windows prevents installing and loading of drivers that have not been signed by Microsoft. If you have a 64bit operating system, Vista or newer, you will have to follow special procedures to install and use the included drivers. If signed drivers exist they will be added to the download when they are found.
Before you installed the drivers and whenever you want to use the ADB / Odin functionality later you must do the following:
Reboot your computer, once it begins starting immediately hold F8.
After a few seconds you will get the Windows Startup Menu.
Select "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement".
Install or use your driver/device in Windows.
CAUTION:
Some users are reporting that after the update the phone will temporarily be stuck in a boot loop. This seems to happen when the user has previously installed certain custom ROMs such as Take5 and Galaxy R12.
The work-around requires a complete factory wipe of the phone, meaning you will lose all of your data and apps not on the SD card. If you want to proceed in this case do the following:
When the phone appears to be stuck in the boot loop..
Pull the battery and reinsert it.
Hold down Volume Down + Call + End.
When the [!] logo appears press 'menu'. This will perform the factory reset.
Special thanks to Mazz35, ikhtiar, slmar123, and everyone else who supported this effort.
Below is an outdated release!
Special thanks goes to SoulCreator for giving me a working ROM dump after I botched mine in test #1 - don't worry it works now
Use these firmware images to update your phone to the latest official firmware (UVJA3) if you haven't received it automatically yet. If you've been using a custom ROM, you can return to the updated stock build with these as well.
The downloads contain the Odin software, Samsung ADB drivers, and images (update or full flash depending). This is everything you need to perform the firmware flash - no root or other special tools/knowledge is necessary.
CAUTION: Interrupting the flashing process may render you phone permanently unusable. Keep this in mind while you set everything up.
Update: Do this if you want to keep your apps, settings, and data. You will only loose root and custom ROM features.
Turn off and disconnect your Behold 2 from your computer.
Extract and setup the Samsung ADB drivers if you haven't already done this.
Connect your Behold 2 via USB.
Start the phone in Download Mode by pressing and holding the following buttons in order: Volume Down > D-Pad OK > Power/End.
Run Odin Multi Downloader v4.03.exe.
Click Reset Files.
Click OPS - pick Behold2.ops.
Under Options, check One Package.
Click One Package - pick Update-T939UVIJ6-to-UVJA3-OnePackage.tar.md5.
Click Start. Odin and your phone's screen will begin to display the status of the firmware download process. After a minute your phone will reboot while Odin continues its timer. Your phone is flashed at this point and you can begin to use it after it boots.
Full Flash: Do this if you want to revert to the (updated) stock firmware after using a custom ROM. You will loose all applications, settings, and data on the phone.

These Odin images were made by myself, not released by T-Mobile or Samsung. Some members of the community may like to know how this was done, so I am working on a guide. Its relatively simple and can be done by anyone comfortable with a command line. The guide is found here: Creating Custom ROMs/Backups for Odin
what is the differenc ein the full flash and the above one(Update-T939UVIJ6-to-UVJA3-OnePackage.zip) before that.

You have to set Odin up under win xp service pack 3 ( I think) under the compatibility mode tab.
Are you booting into download mode? Do you have the beholds drivers installed? Download mode and recovery are too different things I don't think you're in download mode. If you are you should be seeing a screen that says download mode and has a blue disk looking image in the background

Yes it is not working in the Downloading mode. It get stuck on the Set up connection. and on the Behold 2 it says Press down loader start button.
I've been trying to keep track of all the ROMS. It's a bit dizzying. Is there a stock OTA flash but with no bloatware, no mods, root, possibly a2sd and is stable? I've seen microhaxo's tweaks, which are cool, but was wondering how you'd go about just getting rid of the bloatware and having things remain stable.

tried to downgrade to 1.5 forgetting that there was already a rom installed. odin update didnt finish now my phone doesnt boot past loading screen... pleeze helpp!!!
New here. I just bought a Samsung Behold 2 from someone on craigslist.
The phone is 1.5 never flashed
Installed the drivers on Win7 32.
Got into download mode and Odin doesn't recognize my phone...
Odin only recognizes the phone when the phone is on via Samsung PC studio.
Tried installing the drivers on 64bit Windows 7 and Windows XP on a junky computer and it doesn't work.
On the other hand, while its download mode... I go on "Devices and Printers" the phone is below "Unspecified Device" labeled Gadget Serial.
I click on it and on the tab Hardware and it says Gadget Serial Control and Samsung CDMA Technologies and on the bottom for both says The drivers for this device are not installed.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong..
UPDATE: I got it to work by uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling it.
Thanks for this!
By the way.. should I update this to the 1.6 NoTwiz

Reason: found solution
Hello, I flashed my behold 2 to the stock update and followed the instructions in the first post...now my phone shows red dots and lines on the screen (even though most of the funtions work) and it restarts at random while in the android market or using apps. Please help, I just want the phone not to crash and restart and have weird red dots and lines in the background. I was running the original 1.5 firmware which came with the phone before flashing....thanks!
used the following steps but says im still running 1.5? it completed with no problem and phone rebooted and started up fine.

The package you downloaded UVJA3 is a 1.5 package, you need the T939UVJE2_OEM.zip to upgrade your phone to 1.6. This is the stock 1.6 version and there are other versions too. The link to this file is a few posts up in this thread.

Having this same problem. I rebooted my PC, held F8, Diabled driver signature enforcement... but still cannot successfully intall the Samsung modern driver. Any help/solution on this matter?
There are not customizations in this ROM - it is still Android 1.5.
It gives you the official T-Mobile UVJA3 firmware build without having to wait for it to be downloaded to your phone over the Internet. Some people still haven't gotten the OTA update even though it came out a month ago. There are also reports that you can only get the OTA update once - so if you flash another ROM and want to go back, the only way to get the updated firmware is with this.
I'm confused. I'm looking all over the internet for the official OTA file for 1.6 for the tmobile behold II, and this is the only thread that anyone seems to link to. However in this post you seem to say this file is only 1.5, but clearly the original post states largely that it is 1.6.
If i want to update to official behold II 1.6 without root, do i just follow the instructions in the original post?

Same problem here. Holy crap it is driving me insane..............
I suppose ill try to get my hands on a box running XP and try again. Buh, so frustrating. Its scary enough to tinker around with phones like this because I am new at it, so when things don't even work like they should in the early stages it is not only scary its also infuriating.

Busted out my old takes-15-minutes-to-boot XP laptop and went through the steps in the readme. Worked perfectly and if it weren't for the computer it would have taken like 10 minutes.
Thanks everyone. 1.6 is working just fine. Google Nav, better android market and swype are all nice new additions . Plus the ability to now DL "flick defense" which is my favorite game so far lol.

There is no update.zip for the original stock 1.6. It's full flash...you'll have to back up your apps using either titanium backup pro or astro file manager
It looks like you are using the Update package. This one poses practically no risk of damaging your phone if it fails to flash. If it continues to sit there just restart Odin and try again.
Mine is stuck on system download too. I have tried it 1000 times and can't get past 5/9 Finished, system download..
anyone else here notice that the zip. links at the top are no longer valid??
nm found everything i needed and got it working, too bad it took 2 days to find it lol

The Samsung Behold 2 for T-Mobile greatly improves on the first version of the phone by adding Android to the mix, providing for a powerful combination of hardware and sowftware. With Android, Samsung's custom TouchWiz UI, a 3.2-inch AMOLED Tou... Read More
