Did you put it in download mode? I forgot once, and it was very frustrating.

Default Help with Odin. Stuck at system...

Everything is flashing fine, til it gets to system. The green bar gets to 50% and the time just keeps ticking 20+mins...

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure when you flash warheads, it will replace whatever kernel you have on there...

so you flashed the phone...and boot already? and now you're trying to do the pda and it gets stuck? what does it say/ what is it doing on the phone?

try flashing a different rom. like dots, or a galaxy rom. see if that does anything. if it does the same thing...try to flash the stock 1.5 factory rom package (boot/pda/phone all in one file instead of all 3 separately, if you can't find it I'll link you).

I've asked this question in another thread, but haven't gotten an answer.

I followed the above instructions to use BH_MAN 1.6(noTouchWiz) on my phone.
It appears that I have got it working since the phone shows that its in 1.6 now.

My concern is the BOOTLOADER and PHONE. I didn't flash those because the instructions didn't say to, but I've seen messages saying:

"ONLY FLASH BOOT / PHONE Once.... Once Flashed You Only Have to Flash the PDA File if doing a Restore, Never flash the Phone & Boot file more than Once!!!!!!"

I came from a stock 1.5 factory phone.

So should I flash OPS and PDA again, along with BOOT and PHONE?

I don't want to run into problems regarding this issue in the future, so if someone could answer I would greatly appreciate it. A clear brief explanation on the purpose of each would be even more helpful so I could help newcomers like me on the forum.

THANKS AHEAD!

No, if you download the Warheads zip, the ODIN program is there. You just load the appropriate files in the software and let it run.

Make sure you have the drivers installed or your computer will not recognize your phone.

In one of the rom zips, there was a copy of the driver that you could manually install.

I don't have it on my work computer, otherwise I would host it for you.

Found this though. http://www.junefabrics.com/bin2/SamsungUsbBehold.zip

Yeah that is the one I am using and it came up as a "samsung modem".

Default Re: How-to Flash using ODIN

I keep losing root access for some reason. Foe example I can load any rom but after about an hour I cant use apps that require root. Like cache mate or titanium backup. The apps tell me I dint have the required credentials. So I go to better terminal and type "su" and wait for the "#" so that I know I have root but it gives me an error. So the only way to get root back is to reboot phone.

Now my question is why does this happen? Is it because I never flashed the bootloader or phone?

Default same boat

I'm running Win 7 Pro x64, and was able to manually install all the drivers, but at the end Windows warned me that "this version of windows is unable to use unsigned drivers" or something like that. So, basically it is blocking the drivers because they don't have some BS digital signature.

Ugh.

Lots of people get extremely frustrated trying to get the drivers to work on W7 x64. Very few succeed. I gave up and used my 32-bit W7 netbook. No problems at all.

What's worse is MS makes developers pay thousands of dollars for their seal of approval.

Apparently Samsung didn't pay the MS tax.

If somewhere there are signed drivers I'll try to find them.

Work-around for 64bit

Before installing the drivers and when ever you need to use the related device in the future, press and hold 'F8' at boot up until the windows startup menu appears. Select "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement".

I'll put this in my readme's.

Question Flashing ODIN

I heard that you can't do an ODIN Flash until you root the phone. Is this true? If not, is flashing with ODIN worth it?

you dont need to root the phone to Odin. you Odin to root the phone if you want root or you can simply update to a ROM that doesn't have root

Yes, put the behold ops in the ops slot and put the kernel in the pda slot.

My Behold 2 runs so fast you'd think it was a Kenyan!
Don't buy Samsung, they don't update, they just launch a new phone.

Default Noobs---Follow the Battery instructions!!!

Also, for anyone new to flashing your phone with a new ROM, I cannot overstate the importance of following the instructions regarding the battery.

It is extremely important that you install on a 100% full battery, then drain down to 0% when the phone shuts down on its own. Then recharge to 100% with the phone completely off.

I didn't completely follow these instructions, and my phone wasn't able to make it through a single day on standby. I re-flashed the ROM, followed the directions this time, and my battery life has tripled, so I have no problem making it through a day of moderate to heavy use.

I guess they have instructions for a reason some times.

Cry

I followed everything to the "T"! I installed the drivers and Odin picked up my Behold 2 with no problem. I chose the behold_ops and the PDA for stock and hit start. Everything so far so good. Then, BAM! It says downloading kernal and doesn't make any progress. The Behold was never rooted just trying to reflash the stock image because Factory Reset doesn't seem to work. What should I do?

Default Flashing Behold 2 with all ROMs

I have a similar problem. When flashinf with Odin, it gets through most of it, but when it gets to system, it just goes on forever. It never finishes. I can always get into the download mode, the drivers work, Odin finds the phone, it starts the flashing process, and just hangs during it and never finishes. I have tried this 1000 times. I have not tried flashing the boot, etc seperately yet.
