Default Need lots of help with this phone

Hi everyone... well I guess I'm now the owner of the Behold 2. I had the Behold 1 until it decided to stop working, so T-Mobile gave me this instead. It is a very neat phone and I like it, but I miss the things the first one would do. I do not have a data plan or internet plan or anything like that, just regular phone and messaging service... I refuse to pay 30.00 a month for phone internet - that's more than my home internet.

I can't check Gmail anymore? I try and it gives a message about not finding a stable connection. I have tried it with the Gmail icon as well as the generic looking ''email'' icon.

I heard someone say before that I could use Wifi but I have no clue how. I tapped the Wifi icon to turn it on, but I don't know how to do it.

There is no way to turn the auto screen lock off- 3 minutes is the max? How do I delete the preinstalled stuff I don't want, like the demo games and the navigation thing?

Is this phone pretty much worthless without a data plan? I can't even access the calendar for goodness sakes! Can anyone give me any tips about using Wifi or something about using home internet? I'm seriously lost and would at least like to be able to put events on my calendar and not pay 30 bucks a month to do it I think I want a different phone

Sorry if someone else already asked, I searched around and still felt unsure. I feel like I have a phone that I can't even access, bummer.

Thanks for any advice

at the home screen, click the menu button, click wifi, then click manage wifi. Basically you have to tell it to connect to your wireless router (i hope you have a wireless router or else no internet)

If you router has a password, then it will ask you (basically on your phone, next to your home internet icon, there will be a lock if it requires a passcode, no lock means that its free to anyone which means anyone within range can get on your wireless internet, which in return slows down the max speeds you are paying for)

As for the extra bloatware, you cannot uninstall them, its one of the few bad things this phone has. If you root your phone, you can do something called a2sd, which means you can add applications to your sd card and run them from there.

If you can ever check your "about phone" status, make sure is says android 1.6

There should be a way to have your phone never dim out as long as it is connected to a charger.

Anymore questions, just ask, search, or look around.

O ya, and if bloatware became a really big piss, then I would suggest you looking at flashing your phone to the no bloatware rom.

Its basically the same rom as you have right now, but it takes away all the extra baggage. Let me go find a link for you to read about it some more.

Thanks so much for your help. I don't have a wireless router. I miss the way the Behold 1 let me check email using text messages. Oh well, maybe I'll just sell the phone on Ebay since it needs internet to do anything beyond a phone call =(

hey hey now!

dont give up,

now i think that if you ask your internet provider, they can rent your a wirless router for like 10/month

if you are using cable internet, wireless rounters are cheap, I bought mine for like 25.99 (the old linksys wireless g router).

they are really easy to connect. just plug in two wires and your down.

Also, there is a way you can get internet for your phone for 10/month,

but i really dont know anything about that. I tried saying that there was no such way, but many say they have it. I believe them although people have them through different ways.

If you have an old phone that has 9.99 internet, then you can put your sim card into that phone, call up tmobile, or go online, and add the 9.99 internet.

You say you dont have internet, so you could probably get away with just popping the sim into another phone and after you added the 9.99 internet, then you switch the sim to your other phone. and tada.

but dont quote me, look on the threads for the experts to tell you how its done.

I might try it myself after I finish paying for my new mytouch slide.

I like to practice things on my behold II which is why I still keep it around. I also like to help people who are trying to make the best out of their new behold II's
