Blush Welp! ... I BRICKED it! Here we go...

Shortly after reading this thread, I got all excited and managed to change my battery icon using TBH. I posted a pic in this post ... pretty cool, huh? So far, so good.

Then I got greedy ...

So I proceeded to use TBH to change my font. The app said it was "successful" so I rebooted, and woohoo! New system fonts! But they were wacky, so I open TBH again and decide to try a different font. Tapped on another selection and got the same "successful" reply. I reboot ... and ... and ... what? ... STUCK! Pull the battery, press the power, here's the initial boot screen, and ... and ... and ... NOTHIN!!! WHAT HAVE I DONE????????

I go to bed.

First thing this morning I get up and Google "Motorola Bionic sbf file", which leads me to this page. I follow the directions to the letter, and BAM! Joe's got his phone back. Like new even! Thank goodness I did a nandroid backup before this whole adventure. (See! I'm not THAT stupid!)

I think I'll wait until we have the complete clockworkmod recovery before getting too crazy.

Glad I got my phone back. Now ... gotta go restore it.

I have a saying that I use often. "It ain't yours, until ya worked on it."
But I'm pretty sure when it comes to a Droid, "It ain't yours, until ya BROKE it!".

Hmmm, so should we feel bad that you actually resorted to Google instead of just coming to our http://androidforums.com/bionic-all-things-root/413871-motorola-droid-bionic-all-things-root-guide-updated-9-16-11-a.html thread?

I don't remember if I wrote to thank you for your consise instructions late last week when my bionic and I had a simultaneuous meltdown. It has been on my mind and I couldn't find a post to that effect, so please accept my belated appreciation. You and few other favorites on this forum make it all worthwhile

i wiped the davlik, battery stats, and formatted the system and when i rebooted to flash the new ROM Unleashed 1.3 it stuck at the dual core logo. now i try to run RSD and flash the smaller file and it says flash failed on 3/5 sys img. i am thinking about downloading the complete file but not sure, am stuck at work now and without a phone. any ideas would help i did have to run RSD lite before and had no problems, just after wiping and formatting the system, as seen in someones video about installing unleasehed, did i run into this problem . anyone...anyone...

You also needed to wipe cache and data factory reset. I would not worry about wiping battery stats until you get it flashed. It sounds like the smaller file is bad, try and downloaded it again and flashing if not do the full.

Will do, once i get back home i will download the files again and try. I have used the smaller file before and no issues but will downlaod again and if no go will do the complete one. i also did wipe the cache but forgot the factory reset, thanx for reminding me. just always wiped battery stats when switching roms on the thunderbolt so it is a habbit.

Well....tried both files and both fail.

RSD says Failed Flashing process: 1/5 erase cache>phone returned FAIL; phone connected

on the phone on AP Fastboot near the bottom it says
Invalid CG OTV (CG; system) : Invalid SP Data
Invalid CG HAB (CG: system, status: 0x004e)
Invalid CG OTV (CG: system)

need something, never saw those words at the bottom before.

tried 2 different minimal files and 1 complete file nothing works

Try the fast boot method you might have better luck.

I am assuming that you have the drivers installed. If so

Download the zip: One-click_Fastboot_Restore.zip http://api.viglink.com/api/click?format=go&drKey=898&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dro idforums.net%2Fforum%2Fdroid-bionic-hacks%2F173870-one-click-fastboot-restore-recover-bootloop-softbrick.html&v=1&libid=1317335931807&out=http%3A %2F%2Fth3oryrom.com%2FBIONIC%2FOne-click_Fastboot_Restore.zip&ref=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dr oidforums.net%2Fforum%2Fdroid-bionic-hacks%2F&title=One-Click%20Fastboot%20Restore%20to%20recover%20from%2 0bootloop%20or%20softbrick&txt=One-click_Fastboot_Restore.zip&jsonp=vglnk_jsonp_13173 359822021
Extract the zip to a folder on your computer.
Hold the volume down and hit the power button to enter the Fastboot screen on your BIONIC.
Connect the BIONIC to your computer with the USB cable.
Double click the file One-click Fastboot Restore in the folder where you extracted the zip.
Follow the prompts on the screen and you're ready to go.

The computer is not strong enough for a fast charge and I read that some chargers don't play well with the bionic.

Mine charges just fine on about 5 different charges that I had lying around the house ... Doesn't seem very picky at all.

had it plugged into the wall charger it came with for last hour and 15 min. i unplugged it and within 10 seconds it turned off, like it was not charging at all. no problems at all before attempting to flash. gonna let it charge overnight, but doubt it will make a difference. will try a new battery tomorrow if i have to because it says low battery and i cant do shit now

I know it is not the article I was reading but it is coming from p3 droid.

Twitter

If the charger is less than 0.8 amp charger the bionic will take forever. That is why when charging off your computer takes so long because a standard usb is only 0.5 amp and also why most aftermarket chargers take a long time.

ok, i found out my battery took a shit and i got a warranty replacement. once installed i was still unable to get RDS lite to flash, kept getting flashing error. used the One Click Fastboot Restore and that worked like a charm. needless to say i am back up and running with the new Theory Rom and loving it. thanx for all your help everyone. still not sure why RDS worked before but not anymore but not even worried about it since the one click method worked flawlessly. That was a long 2 days without a phone especially since my internet business odes have a phone number. Back to the Bionic and Bats....

PS...there really may be something to the unsupported chargers thing as i had it plugged in to a third party charger and the battery percentage was actually dropping.....this is prior to my fix. now nothing but OEM i guess.

The chargers is something Moto know's about but they don't care to fix.

Here is an article with some of the things to be fixed and not fixed in the update coming out.

I use a variety of cables and chargers without any difficulty that data cables are another story. And Verizon said that's the way they planned it?

One-click fastboot restore and root for the bionic v2.1 - xda-developers

Here is another great way to get your phone unbricked. This a newer version of the fastboot method suggested above. I've used it twice so far, once to actually unbrick my phone and the other time to return to stock so I could return the phone. Works very well, you don't have to download rsd or the recovery file, its all in one package. Just put the phone into fastboot, connect to a pc and run it. Easy as pie.

Also gives you the option to reroot afterwards too!

Cool to update this thread, I guess ... since it won't die on it's own. But that method has already be posted IN THIS THREAD in this forum.

quick question... do you know if it wipes the internal storage (sdcard) when you use this fastboot recovery method?

I was fairly certain that the fastboot recovery as with all other resets would not wipe the data so I decided to risk it and go for it... All data is in tact. :-)
