Thanks dfib for putting this together! Big help for me and hopefully for others.

If there is enough interest, maybe it can become a sticky for easy locating?

Thanks again, Dennis

+1

Now that's I've rooted and on .893 (about time) I'm getting excited about potential ROMs, and I'd like to go to one thread (this one) to know the ROMs out there...and maybe if it's not too much to ask for, a basic discussion about the ROMs differences, pros, cons, etc.

Thanks again dfib!

Ok Bionic Newb here.
I have ALOT of experience with the LG Ally and know that Velocity and Frunisher is the best overall Roms that have been made for that phone. And yes some of that is subjsect to oppinion. LOL

So what are the Best Roms for this bad boy?
DO we have CM7 or CM9
Is ICS an available ROM?
Now I know that ICS ROM prolly does not exist but hey I wont know If I dont ask. LOL

Thanks a million Guys.
You guys are almost making this too easy.

p.s. are the OTA's baked into some of these Roms?

I think that the theory rom's are the best . It gives you multiple options from the same base.
There is no cm7 or cm9 yet.
ICS is available in beta form but not everything works yet. I will post a link when I can.

My previous phone was an Ally, so rooting and flashing velocity was almost necessary. The reasons i had for rooting the Ally don't apply to the Bionic, so is there any reason right now to root and flash a rom outside of ridding of bloatware and making the phone look nice? I can't imagine needing to OC this thing, so the only real benefit I can think of is tethering and I only tether occasionally when I'm at school. ICS theme is tempting though.

OF COURSE minutes after posting this my internet at home craps out. If this happens a lot over break I may have to root.

Decided to go for it and now I'm running kinetix and I'm just curious, are there descriptions of "th3ory tpax" or "univ3rsal mods"? I'll probably end up trying most of them out but I'd like to see a brief description.

There are picture of each tpax in op at rootzwiki(link in the op). Besides full blurr add on and PUR3 they are the same but the colors are changed. The full blur add on is just like stock with some tweaks, PUR3 is gingerbread with no motorola or verizon software included.

Under kinetix it says not to flash pure if you already flashed blur....can you go the other way around? I test drove the rom and decided to keep it, now i wanna make it look sexy, so I'm gonna flash the add ons and pax and whatnot.

I believe that once you go blur or pur you have to start with the base again. I made a back up of the base completely set up before any add on's, this way no matter what I do it is not to time consuming to flash any add on.

2 questions:

I'm switching from kin3tix to a new rom and what I want the most is something either with a lot of themes made for it or something a noob could customize the look of. (I mostly want red, not this ugly blue)

Also, I want to know how you can tell which roms are best without trying them out. It seems as though people get really excited just reading about the rom and the features look like a foreign language to me.

I'd go for Eclipse myself. Check out their theme forums here:

• View forum - Themes and Apps

Here's one red theme:

• View topic - [THEME] RedBliss & REDCarbon Bliss

I'm more of a cyan guy, but that red theme looks pretty slick.

On a side note, dfib, can you add Eclipse 2.1RC1 for 901?

• View topic - [ROM] Eclipse v2.1 RC1

Need help: i tried flashing 901-compatible Liberty on my 902-updated bionic. Flashes fine, and it's a nice ROM, although I have scrolling issues with the app drawer. But the radio now reads as 886. The phone then tells me there are two updates on the phone. It insists. Of course any attempt at installing fails because an error pops up telling me there is some kind of mismatch. No surprise, because the radio is 902. But I do not know what is going on there.

because of the incessant popups, I could not use Liberty and had to flash another rom.

Any ideas?

Added Eclipse 2.2 and ICS Alpha's and Beta's. If you know any ROM's I missed just post them here and I will add them.

Just a suggestion dfib if you can change the links for the ICS roms from rootzwiki to the droidhive links so that it connects to the most updated files since they are not updating the rootzwiki links that are up. Great thread and very helpful.

+1 for eclipse rom 2.2. I installed it yesterday and I love it. Great work guys and keep it up. I was kind of getting bored with my bionic, but being able to explore a new rom always does the trick.

Yeah Eclipse 2.2 is awesome. I was using the ICS ROMs for a while but it was starting to feel like it defeated the purpose of owning a Bionic when Flash, front-facing camera, hardware acceleration, and other things are still not working on ICS. (No offense to the ICS devs, they are working really hard and releasing ROM updates almost every night as they work these issues out). Going back to a fully functioning Gingerbread ROM is awesome, and Eclipse almost looks like ICS anyways.

installed eclipse 2.2 on a bionic from 902 via safeboot. It works great, however was receiving duplicate text messages. went back to stock side and the problem isn't there.

...don't like the black bar/background on the ICE homescreen buttons, but otherwise it is awesome. Hoping for stable ICS roms soon!

Just throw a little donation to the devs if you use their rom. I'm on eclipse 2.2 and love it! I didn't have luck with the .905 update so that's why I'm back to .902 using eclipse 2.2

Support your favorite devs!

You should consider installing the ics leak from moto. Much nicer than GB in all respects!

It's been a while since anyone posted in this thread... Still no sign of an official version of ICS from Motorola?

Any new stable versions of ICS available?

Has anyone on here tried the Wizzed Bean ROM? I'm still waiting for my OK from the mods to be able post and such. Until that time I can't even look at the screenshots that are posted. I'm wanting to try it but without knowing what it looks like first I don't want to go ahead and do it. I have a few more questions on some stuff but will wait until I hear back on this post to post them.
