I would use the 6.7.246 fxz file in the OP. It will put you right on ICS with a clean slate.

Is the .246 fxz the "OTA" or the leaked version?

They are both one in the same. The FXZ in used with rsdlite.

I had this happen, but here's how it happened. I had to different files named identical and chose the wrong one.

do you have multiple fxz files in one folder? Maybe you picked the wrong one like I did.

Default problems.

I did everything like I was told and it worked up until 6/22, at that point it keeps saying failed. The only reason I'm going back to previous rom is because when I got this phone I unlocked it myself using radiocomm because I have T-Mobile but when I updated to ICS the unlock no longer worked. So if anyone can help me either get RSD to work or tell me a way to unlock ICS for T-Mobile that would be great.. :l -Kyle

If you are trying to go back to GB (5.9.905) you just bricked your phone.....

You need to flash the 6.7.246 fxz not the modified to get you up and running.

After that read this thread to learn how to activate gsm on the bionic, towards the end it deals with ics i believe. If not there are threads link in that thread to help you. The Droid:Bionic can do CMDA/4LTE and GSM/HSPA+ [IMAGE INTENSIVE]

What does bricked mean ? Cause I can still boot the phone, it just boots into ICS. But I am downloading the 6.7.246 now and am going to attempt to flash it. I'll take a look at that thread too, thank you.

A brick would be where you could not boot your phone. I am guessing you did not try and go back to Ginger Bread then. What were you coming from and what were you trying to flash.

lol no, my thesis defense is 21 November. I'm just taking a break today and about to FXZ to .246 since I am on .247 currently. Figured I'd poke my head into the various Android forums I hang (hung?) out at and offer advice where I can, help where I'm needed, and opinions because I can

Default Help......please...

I was working with stock rom GB 905 and had my phone rooted with safestrap. I tried an unroot method via rsd lite 5.5. The website instructed me to use a file named bionic_minimal_fxz.tar.gz. I followed all instructions but now the only thing it will do is give me the fastboot menu. I downloaded the rsd lite 5.7 from this forum but is there a file on here that can get me back?

Use the 5.9.905 fxz if you want to stay on GB or use the 6.7.246 fxz if you want to be on ICS.

Thank you! Worked perfectly. I was directed here by a comment on the site where I used the file that soft bricked me. But I just wanted some certainty. Thanks again.

Default Unroot on ICS OTA Update

I am currently on .246 via OTA ICS update. I also have rooted the phone but now I want to unroot. Is there a way to just unroot without having to reinstall a whole .246 file? What are the steps I should follow?
Thanks, Michael

I would use modified 6.7.246 file. Before you flash it I would use Titanium Backup to remove Superuser app and then flash the modify file. You will keep all your data and unroot your phone.

Welcome to AF Hope we can make your journey through android land enjoyable.

Yes you can root 6.7.246 either using Razors edge or Motofail for ICS.

I personally use Razor's edge because it has never failed on me but they both work.

There is a thread about it here. Rooting ICS

Good Luck and if you have any questions you can send me a PM or just post here and I will get an email.

Default Still stuck....

Hello. I've tried this .246 method and it works fine in RSDLite. At the end it reboots and goes through the first (M) screen to the next "DROID" screen and stays there. RSD Lite says please manually power this phone up. So, I wait about 10 minutes, just to make sure. Then I unplug and restart. Moto circle goes through, it flashes "DROID" and stays there. This has been my issue from the start, I can't get it to boot past "DROID". Any hope for this phone??

Sometimes it can sit at the droid screen for up to 30 minutes. I would try again and let it sit. If rsdlite goes through with no errors than it was successful.

Well, RSDLite says "Please manually power up this phone." No problem. Then it sits, I've been waiting about 45 minutes now for it to move on past "DROID." I suppose its better than the blank screen I've had after (M) with the past two times I've tried.

Any other suggestions?

Try this.
Pull your battery, wait 10 seconds and then put it back in
press and hold both volume buttons and then press the power button at the same time
when the menu comes up use volume down to get to recovery option and then volume up to select
when the android with the ! appears press and hold both volume buttons again
volume down to data factory wipe and press power to select.
when it is done select reboot system/phone

Done. Same thing.

I'll let it sit while I finish my work stuff, but I think I have an issue that is far beyond all of this stuff.

First off,

My battery is dead, and the only way I can get to program is to mcguyver charge the battery....which works for programming. My phone just stopped working without me messing with it. I turned it off after I updated OTA to ICS and when I turned it back on I got stuck on the "DROID" screen...this is without flashing or anything. So, I figured something happened and I will just reflash...no go. Still the same thing every thing I try. I have a feeling something is wrong with system.img as it is just not booting into anything.

So, what next?

First you need to get that battery charged. Then try and boot in up. If your phone is still not booting and is still under warranty bring it back to Verizon because there is something going on that can't be fix by software.

I have been trying for a few days now to get my Bionic back to GB from ICS 6.7.246.XT875 the files are either corrupt and will not work in RSD 5.7 or I get the 6/22 cdt error and now stuck in the AP fast boot saying flash failed. I can get back in the phone if I go to the boot normal menu selection. I really would like the GB back. PLEASE HELP!!!!

You can not go back to GB from 6.7.246 I am sorry. The files are not corrupt, the security is different in GB and ICS 6.7.246 that is why you are stuck. You need to flash the 6.7.246 fxz and your phone will be running again. But there is no way to go back to GB.

Well.... you could root the phone, install Safestrap, and then install a Gingerbread-based custom ROM, I suppose...

Thank you for the reply. I did flash the 6.7.246 fxz from the download here and did get it back functioning normal. Is the boot loader being locked causing Bionic users not to be able to downgrade?

As long as the it's internal workings are based on the ICS kernel else there will be some issues.

Thanks for the help and advice everyone. Hope a boot loader un-locker comes out for the Bionic. That would be awesome. To me the Bionic ran great on GB.

Hello. I'm on ICS .223 trying flash the updated version on the OP. RSDlite is not recognizing my phone. I've installed the latest drivers, RSDlite 5.7, and using the Moto USB cable. Moments after I plug the cable while sitting in the fastboot screen, it reboots to the M screen and starts up like normal. I went from GB to ICS with no problems long ago, but now I can't update to .246. Am I missing something? I'm going to try on another computer tomorrow. Thanks in advanced

First off, welcome to Android Forums. Are you using a USB 3.0 port? If you are switch to a USB 2.0 port. With the phone on scroll through each of the usb modes and let the phone load the drivers for each one. Then leave the cable connected, start Rsdlite, then boot into fastboot and see if it shows up in rsdlite. No mater what happens post back if you can.

What system are you currently on and what file did you download to use?

Did you check the md5 sums if they matched to see if the file is corrupt? Did you unzip the file before you tried to flash it because this will cause the error. It needs to be a zip.

Thanks for the speedy response! I went through all the USB options. It installed an additional driver when I chose Media Device (MTP). RSDlite recognized my phone. I shut down the phone to go into fastboot, but no avail. It went to the M screen and restarted like normal. It's only recognizing it under that option.

How are you trying to get into fastboot? Are you holding volume Down and also the power button at the same time until the fastboot menu comes up? You can also try holding both volume buttons and the power button at the same time until a menu appears, then use volume down to get to fastboot and volume up to select.

I was thinking holding vol up, down, and power was getting me into fastboot. I forgot that I had to select it. I had a slow moment there -_- Everything went well after. The update made a night/day difference from .223. Thank you again for your quick responses!

Did you try the actual cable that came with your Bionic?
Did you install the drivers, if so have you rebooted your pc?
Can you get into fastboot mode on your phone? press and hold the volume down and power button at the same time on the phone. The fastboot menu will appear.

Once rooted, can I turn 'USB Debugging' off?
Is it ok to disable the option to install from unknown sources?

I would leave both usb debugging enabled and unknown source enabled.

You may need to use adb to save your phone someday and you need usb debugging enabled to do so.

Certain root apps will not work unless unknown sources is enabled.

They will not harm your phone in anyway leaving them enabled.

Exclamation Please help me out here.

I just changed providers and my bionic is stuck on the 6.7.2331 leak I flashed last year. I don't have a computer, I used a friends to flash to ics. But my brother has a mac laptop I can use, but to my understanding you cannot use an apple product with an android device, which makes sense but it's annoying.

My Bionic was not rooted, but now I want to root it and get out of this bad leak and back onto the newest upgrade path.

Is this even possible to get to stock without the phone being active now? If not can I atleast root the device?

I've been trying to figure this out forever and any information would be greatly appreciated.

You can use a mac to update to 6.7.246 and root but I am not familiar with it. I am going to ask one of the other guides that I know uses mac's and moto to come here and try and give you a hand.

Red face

I think I'm just going to try and wing it, once my device is charged up to 50%, its gonna be a couple hours (stupid extended battery), but I know he has some kind of windows related software on there and I'll do a little testing the waters and google a little first.

If you manage to get a hold of your contact I'm subscribed for instant email notifications on this thread so feel free to chime if you have any news .

Otherwise you'll soon be seeing a very excited or distraught message with my results lol. But this isn't my first rodio so I'm feeling confident.

Good luck
