HELP! Bricked phone without backup :(
Like an idiot, I didn't create a recovery file and now I'm afraid I lost my phone
I used this link
http://androidforums.com/bionic-all-things-root/480176-how-flash-5-5-893-5-9-902-rsdlite.html
but got this error message, and yes I do have all the drivers and everything installed
"Please check input file. Either XML format is wrong or image files associated with it are missing"

just read this. see if it helps.
Just a note, I had an issue when using RSD lite 5.6 with my bros Atrix 2 on my PC running Win7 64bit. I kept getting an error: "Please check input file. Either XML format is wrong or image files associated with it are missing" when trying to open the zip. After struggling with it for a while I happened to find out that putting RSD lite in compatibility mode for winXP seem to solve the issue. I'm not sure how that made a difference but it did. Hopefully the newer version 5.6.4 won't have this problem next time I need it and much thanks for the link!

you can do the manual method instead of using rsdlite.
download this file and unzip.
moto-fastboot
unzip your 5.9.902 fxz file (
or use this one ) to the same location as moto-fastboot
put your phone into fastboot by press and hold the volume down and power button at the same time on the phone. The fastboot menu will appear. plug your phone into your computer.
navigate in windows to the location you have everything unzipped to. click on the file symbol in the top left corner and when the bar becomes highlighted type cmd and enter if you have win 7. A comand prompt will come up. If not go to start and type cmd and hit enter. when the prompt comes up type cd c:\location of file with moto-fastboot and fxz file unziped
type and hit enter after each step
moto-fastboot flash mbm allow-mbmloader-flashing-mbm.bin
moto-fastboot reboot-bootloader
moto-fastboot flash mbmloader mbmloader.bin
moto-fastboot flash mbm mbm.bin
moto-fastboot reboot-bootloader
moto-fastboot flash cdt.bin cdt.bin
moto-fastboot erase cache
moto-fastboot erase userdata
moto-fastboot flash lbl lbl
moto-fastboot flash ebr ebr
moto-fastboot flash mbr mbr
moto-fastboot flash devtree device_tree.bin
moto-fastboot flash system system.img
moto-fastboot flash boot boot.img
moto-fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
moto-fastboot flash cdrom cdrom
moto-fastboot flash preinstall preinstall.img
moto-fastboot flash webtop grfs.img
moto-fastboot flash radio radio.img
moto-fastboot reboot
you should be on 5.9.902
all your data except on your sd-ext will be erased.

You can omit erasing user data and then, well, it won't.

Do this before typing all those commands?
I tried doing this in both folders
C:\users\
C:\moto-fast-win32
Says "adb.exe" is not recongized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file

Well, apparently the motohelper installed those drivers, so we're back to step 1 again
About calling Verizon...the phone was rooted so that's a no go right?

great!
For the sim card.
shut the phone off
pull the battery and sim card
put just the battery in and turn on the phone
wait till the phone boots up and says it has no sim.
shut phone off and reinstall sim
power up
you should be good to go.

hope someone is still watching this thread
I'm getting the same message as stated here. Seems my original problem is coming from an app called addfree. I can't uninstall it, it keeps reinstalling itself when I reboot my phone. i'm trying to use fastboot to restore my phone but i'm getting a mesage that says the program can't start because AdbWinApi.dll is missing. try reinstalling to fix the problem..
I'm hoping someone can help so I don't have to go to verizon and give up my unlimited data plan today.

Sometimes rsdlite won't work and then it works for no explain reason. I would try it again with possibly a new download of the fxz file you are using. What file are you using?
You can also take this zip which has adb (windows way to communicate with your phone) in it and unzip it into the same folder that you have moto fastboot and the fxz file in. Then run the fastboot commands again.

press and hold both volume buttons to get into recovery. do you have 5.9.905 update on your sd card? wipe cache and reboot. do not do a factory wipe.

i'm so confused. I got it to boot, and its back to the same old problems that I was having. Phone was not reset. Everytime I restart the phone the alarm turns on for friday at 2PM as well as the adfree app is back. seems my problem is the adfree app is blocking some applications it shouldn't......I guess I'll try the process again on my laptop this time.

when you used your desktop were you using the usb ports in the front or back. the ports in the front can cause issues or a hub can do the same.
It does not sound like it was a successful flashing.
