Notsure Need help with flashing ROM

I realize how annoying this is going to be for you guys who are knowledgable on rooting and flashing roms and whatnot. This is my first Android device and I just rooted it a few minutes ago. I really want to flash the latest ICS leak on it, because I hear that it's stable and works very well. Would somebody please take the time to walk me through it? If not, I understand. I know what it's like to deal with unknowledgable people.

That aside, this is my first time attempting this, so I want to be extra cautious. I do not know how the internals to the phone or operating system function. I expect there are similarities and differences to my linux computers.

Anyway. I need detailed, cautious, and safe instructions.

Thanks in advance,
~SmallTock

PS: I currently do not have a microSD card. However, I will be ordering one within the next few days.

since you don't have an sd card I would wait to flash any custom rom until youn get it.

ok. Once you get your sd card do a full format of it to fat32.

1) Install bootstrap recovery or safestrap. I personally use bootstrap.
follow the directions here to install http://androidforums.com/bionic-all-things-root/413871-motorola-droid-bionic-all-things-root-guide-updated-2-14-12-a.html

Optional(but recommended): download titanium back up or similar app to backup all your apps and settings.

2) Download and move your favorite custom rom to your sd card

3) Boot into which ever recovery you choose and create a backup.

Always follow developers instructions when installing custom rom above anything I type here.

4) while in recovery and after you did a backup select wipe data factory reset

do not reboot after this step

5) now select install zip from sd card. find the custom rom where you put it on your sd card and select it.

6) after it is done installing reboot phone, log in to google and let your apps download. if you used titanium backup you can now restore all your apps this way.

Based upon your statement, you want one of the leaks from Motorola's servers, the stock ICS with MotoBlur, correct?

To obtain and install those, you do not need to root your phone.

The latest leak that you can go back to GB from is .232. This is very stable and the best party of the stability is that the connection issues from .905 and previous versions of GB are almost totally gone.

I'll post back with a link as well as detailed instructions.

forget what i wrote I got confused with your post in the other thread where you said you wanted cm9.

if you are on 5.9.905, have not installed bootstrap or safestrap and have not deleted any apps.

1) download leak ( I recommend 6.7.232) and put on your new sd card

http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid-bionic/582536-some-links-help-you-ics-back-updated-7-21-12-a.html

2) reboot into recovery. with the phone off hold both volume buttons and the press the power button. when the menu appears use volume down to get to recovery and volume up to select.

3) when the android with the ! appears press both volume buttons at the same time.

4) use volume down to select update from sd card

5) select the ics leak and let it install.

6) reboot phone when done.

BTW - Our users never annoy us (not the ones that stick around).

Link to the .232 ICS Leak: http://www.theattractiontrend.com/android/232/Blur_Version.5.9.905.XT875.Verizon.en.US.zip

In order to install this update, you need to be on stock .905, all apps present and accounted for - no freezing nor deleting. If you have frozen apps, unfreeze them. If you have removed apps, then post back and let us know - b/c you'll need to flash an FXZ to get you back to pure stock.

I also recommend charging your battery fully. Others will say you only need XX%, but this is your first time, and just in case something goes wrong and you need to start over, you have enough juice to do this three or even four times.

Instructions:
  1. Download the file from the link above to your computer
  2. Use an MD5 program to verify the MD5 hash of the file. It should be E002C1650F0F73C5BE8543ACF1329CBC.
  3. Copy the downloaded file to your SDCard (this is why you need one). I recommend copying it to the main folder, called the root folder, aka / and not into any subfolder (NOTE: Do NOT extract / unzip the file - it needs to be intact).
  4. Disconnect the USB cable, if connected, and power off your phone.
  5. While it is powered off, press and hold BOTH vol up + vol down
  6. While holding both of those, power on the phone. You should get into the bootloader menu.
  7. Use vol down to move the selection bar, and pick recovery. Use Vol up to select it.
  8. Once you see the triangle with the exclamation mark, press BOTH vol down + vol up SIMULTANEOUSLY
  9. You're now in a blue recovery menu. Use vol button to scroll up and down. Select Install update from .ZIP and use the power button to select.
  10. You'll get a list of the files and folders on your SDCard. Find the file you downloaded earlier (using vol down + vol up) and select it (using power button).
  11. Select Yes (scroll using vol down and vol up, select using power button) and let it start verifying your system.
  12. Let it finish. It will take at least 5 minutes. Then, reboot your phone.
  13. The first time it boots it will optimize all of the apps you have downloaded and installed, so it may take a while. This is why I suggest having a full battery on before starting.
  14. Enjoy the new ICS leak.

HTH

It gave me two errors right off the bat.

Typing in everything that appeared in the console. Luckily this didn't destroy my phone haha.

Also, I'm sticking around on these forums. I'm just going to be that annoying noob for a while.

Nope. Thought that was unnecessary since it's just the stock ICS leak

no that is where you should be. I would flash the modified 5.9.905 fxz file in this thread. it will keep your phone looking the same but make sure everything under the hood with the system is right so you can update to the ics leak.
