I have a Sprint S3 flashed to Boost (prior to Boost getting their own) and I use Sprint roms. Never had the data issue per se (signal in my area is not the greatest anyway) but I have had to do the mms fix. Wicked was delightful with lots of customization (kuban updater is great!). After running that for awhile I recently changed to The People's Rom and am really enjoying it. Tons of customization here also with Morphology and Aroma installer. Haven't even scratched the surface yet! What I really like about those two roms is the hotspot. That is a must for me and works flawlessly on both

Kudos to the devs and all the other folks involved with these roms!!

For some reason my Sprint wifi hotspot will not work. BUT....... the wifi tether app that Smith posted works like a charm!! I messed around with it last night and after quite a few attempts, decided to go Smith's route. PROFIT!

Nice knowing I'll have net access with my TF300T tablet while out and about. Smith's method saved the day!

Excellent man. I'm still running the original blue because it's one of my favorite colors. You're right too, this ROM is a nice one for sure. I've been testing it out for a few days now and the only thing I've found not to work for me is the Sprint wifi hotshot. Smith's workaround works flawlessly. Everything else, blue tooth, multi Window, calls while using Internet, etc, all seem to be working flawlessly.

THE Kuban Updater is a SWEET utility too. Have you seen what all it can do? Absolutely amazing! I have tested the basics of this ROM but once i really start digging around and seeing what all it's capable of, I've only touched the surface.

I have a few other ROMs that Capn069 has Oked as working but I just can't bring myself to step away from this one right yet. Too many things I have yet to try as far as customization.

Looks like I may be sticking with Wicked Sensations for awhile to come.

EDIT : Guys, I just wanted to give you a huge heads up in case you haven't visited XDA and their Sprint S3 theme/app section. There are some smoking hot themes over there for the Wicked Sensations ROM. I mean a BUNCH of them! This ROM just keeps getting better and better fellas! The purple theme thread is insane! The add ons are MANY!

There are a lot of other mods especially built for the Wicked Sensations ROM too. Too many to list here. I highly recommend cruising over there and checking them out if you are into theming like I am. I'm stoked.

Let me ask ya guys something, I haven't had any success with this yet.

Anyone on or previously ran aosp and actually got wifi tether working properly? I've got all my settings right it seems but apparently I don't.

It will connect and all, I just have no connectivity :/

Just curious. If you are running AOSP ROMS how did you get your data and everything to work. I thought they weren't working.

As for the none AOSP ROMS, I just followed Mike's wifi guide here in this section. Worked perfectly on Touch Whiz ROMS.

I haven't flashed any of the AOSP ROMS at all. Sure would be nice to find a version of PacMan, Paranoid Android, or AOKP for our phones.

Either I missed someone saying they have tried it, or I'm the first, but the CM 10.2 for Sprint GS3 has been working pretty good for me. I've been running it for about a week now. MMS, LTE, everything running smoothly. Only problems I have had are HOT BOOTS, and if I turn on WiFi, I lose all data connection.

Yup. There can be no space at all in the address.

Make sure to follow the instructions and change the MMS proxy too.

No problem bro and it's nice to finally be in here. This phone is awesome and I'm glad I finally ended up getting one.

I would have to say one of the best things about coming to this phone was coming in here and seeing you, Capn069, Wyelkins and a few others I know from other phone sections. It's always nice seeing people you've known for awhile when coming to a new section. It makes the transition from one device to another so much easier.

You guys give me far too much credit. i really didnt do much on the prevail. you guys will have plenty of support and love using sprint roms, i tried my hand with fixing cm for yall but this virgin mobile/boost/sprint nonsense threw me for a loop.

you gusy have a self made odin tar, i can help make a debrick img so if you flash an international rom etc and your phone no longer gets to download mode you can be saved.

And we did not have ODIN then either. And no CWM. It was pretty scary but we all had faith in you and ShabbyMod.

its above my level of knowhow, giving it another smack wont fix it im afraid :/ actually i need mmcblk0 dumped which contains all the partitions combined into one.

adb shell or terminal emulator:
su
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/sdcard/unbrick.img bs=1024 count=71680

that will dd the first 6 partitions, once i have that image and i know what bootloader you have etc ill make teh unbricking guide

Awesome man. This is looking good fellas.

I'm with you Wy, Shabby's work was what originally got me started with my Prevail. That was way before we had Odin. His work was part of the base that helped build the Prevail up to where it is today.

I flashed the Eclipse rom, booted the phone. Rebooted into recovery, flashed the eclipse gapps. Let phone boot and collect its thoughts. Off to recovery again, flashed piggyback, wiped dalvik, re-flashed piggyback again for good measure, rewiped dalvik, rebooted phone and Bam!!! Data, 4G, works. No idea about MMS yet but Data does in fact work.

Edit: I found one bug but it is a minor one and maybe only a rom bug. Once you turn on Wifi then turn it off you lose data. However, a reboot fixed data for me. I say again, I don't know if it's a cm or AOSP bug but it does happen on The Eclipse rom so far.

BAM! I just tried The Kuban Updater theme changer for the 1st time and it worked. I am now running Wicked Sensations with the AnaKonda theme.

Here's a heads up fellas when changing the themes. Just go through the steps to install. When it reboots into recovery it will sit there and the progress bar will not move. At least it didn't for me. I actually thought I was gonna have to do a battery pull. GIVE IT TIME! It takes several minutes for it to flash the theme. DO NOT MESS WITH YOUR PHONE. After about 4 minutes it will reboot and your theme will be applied. PROFIT!

I'm usually a blue kinda guy but this AnaKonda theme isn't bad at all.

The main reason I made this post is because I didn't want any of you to make the mistake that I almost made and do a battery pull while in recovery. Sometimes that doesn't always end up very well. I was already getting ready in case I needed to flash TWRP with Odin. Lol. Thankfully patience prevailed.

@ Capn069, great news on the AOSP ROMS. Nice find bro.

with aosp roms the reason you guys werent getting 4g before is you have a newer radio (ril) lib than what was in sprints builds, the cm guys must have updated to include a newer ril so you guys get it now

Now that you mention it I did flash the MD4 Baseband which is the Sprint version about a week ago. However, I still didn't have data until I flashed the piggyback APN that Danvhd over at XDA made for Dandroid.

What do you guys think about the 4.2 camera and gallery that you can download from the Cuban Updater?

I like the new Gallery better. Not sure about the Camera yet.

Well I changed it before I go to Work tomorrow. Lol. also changed the pulldown animation to the Panther. That cat is a little tamer than some of the others.

I only nand my stock rom. I didn't install everything I normally would was still on a test run with this rom meaning I only installed the basics not all my usual apps. I wouldn't really mind if I had to redo this rom (Wicked Sensations) it was kinda fun installing it lol

And thanks for the quick response.

Actually, if you are running TWRP you just use The Kuban Updater and download the mod. It will ask you if you want to install it. Select t yes. You then just follow the prompts and it does everything for you. It will boot you into TWRP, flash the mod and then reboot. You don't have to do a thing but select yes to install it.

Just remember what I posted earlier. It will take a good bit to flash the theme and the progress bar will not show that it is making any progress. Do not let that fool you. It is indeed flashing the theme. I came very close to doing a battery pull because the progress bar wasn't moving. I'm glad I decided to give it a few more minutes because doing a battery pull while doing a flash isn't the best thing to do.

If you are using CWM, I've been told that you have to manually flash the mods. If that is the case, I would advise to wipe cache and dalvik only.

Hope this helps and sorry it took so long to respond. I've been busy today and this is the 1st time I've had a chance to check the forum since making the other post.

Well, I don't know about other ROMs but I have tried Wicked Sensations and the MOAR ROM. Both run great.

The only issue I had with Wicked Sensations is the stock hotspot wouldn't work for me. The mod Smith posted fixed that. Others have reported that their stock hotspot is working so I guess it depends on the phone. We all know how that works. Lol, sometimes these phones seem to have a mind of their own.

The MOAR ROM seems to be fully functional except for the dual screen. I long press the back tab and it doesn't pop up like it says it should. So far that Is the only thing that's not working. Data and mms worked from 1st boot. I did do the MMS fix on Wicked Sensations though. If I'm not mistaken, I think someone else posted that they couldn't get the dual screen working either for MOAR. Other than that this ROM seems to be running fine. I haven't been running it but a few hours. I'll report any other issues I run across.

I'm with you. It would be great if we had a up 2 date list of working ROMs. I just haven't tested enough of them to start one. I'm working on it though.

EDIT : I just wanted to add that this MOAR ROM is flippin awesome. The moar I play with it the moar I like it. lol Sorry fellas... I had to.

Edit. Dual screen is working now.

I'm on the most ROM and my split screen works. Try toggling it in setting.

I just edited my post. It must have been the launcher I chose during install or something. I froze TW since I'm using ADW EX and the dual screen is working now. SWEET!

Edit: this ROM is unbelievable man. I've just been playing with the mods in settings. I haven't even started messing the the morphology in the Aroma installer.

Oh, this ROM gives you a choice of kernels. I chose the Ktoonez kernel. It has its own app called KTweaker that handles all the kernel functions. THIS KERNEL CAN OVERCLOCK! You have to actually go into the KTweaker app and select the option to overclock. It goes up to 2106 . I haven't tried it that high because I see no need. Just thought I would let you guys know though.

Kt has had issues before with the kernel not actually being at the values reported.

I haven't checked to see if he's fixed that( I don't run that kernel), but the moral of the story is clock speed numbers can lie.

If you don't need the OC, I'd stay down in the stock values
