Default Opinions of Boost

Hi there, my husband and I are thinking of switching from Sprint to Boost Mobile. I just wanted to see if I could get any opinions about Boost, we have never had a non contract company and have been with Sprint for a very long time. If anyone can give us some insight on how good of a company they are that would be great!

If you liked Sprint you should be good with Boost, same network as you probably know.

Customer service can be a pain and the handsets are not cutting edge but the price easily makes up for these shortcomings. Many questions are already answered on these forums anyway.

As long as you're not looking for the newest phones and you're in a fairly populated (metro) area, Boost is for you.

You'd be better advised by someone in your area that has Boost service. Some places Boost has excellent coverage and some places its sketchy. Where I live by the border of NJ/PA right by interstate 78 coverage is excellent.

Do I have dropped calls? Seldom. But when I'm paying $110 plus tax for my phone I'm much more prone to get upset over a dropped call than when I'm paying $35 flat. I'm on the bottom spectrum of the shrinkage scale.

First of all....Do you insist on the latest and greatest phones and LTE network? If so, then forget pre-paid. If not, then consider pre-paid.

As for Boost....Do you have good Sprint coverage in your area? Are you ok with buying phones and are you satisfied with Boost's offerings? If yes to both, then go for Boost.

I switched from Verizon to Boost 7 months ago. Once I was confident in my area's Sprint coverage, I went for it and will never go back to contracts. I love unlimited everything and my payments have shrunk to the $50 level. I activated online and ported my # without any problems. I re-load my account online also. I have never tried to contact customer service so I can't speak to that. My ZTE Warp has not given me any significant problems. Overall, I have been more than satisfied with Boost.

If you do sign up with Boost...don't forget to check this thread Referral codes part deux (New codes go here!)

Hi HippiePeace,

I have joined Boost Mobile last year in October and the service is not bad because they use the Sprint Network. Boost Mobile is actually OWNED by Sprint so therefore you are NOT LEAVING SPRINT at all. You are STILL SPRINT Customer except you are on the prepaid side of things.

I am currently on my OLD PAN which is Android $50 --> $35. When I upgrade to a NEW Android phone like the Motorola Photon if that is coming to Boost (hopefully it will because it is a WIMAX phone) then I will have to pay $40.00.

If you are paying with your credit card OR your debit card THEN there is SALES TAX CHARGED because you states has sales tax. If you are BUYING form the store that is RE-BOOST cards then YES there is Sales tax charged to the RE-BOOST card. To use your RE-BOOST card to pay for your Boost Mobile bill you have to scratch off the back of the card and enter the codes at the BACK of the card. Then there will be NO SALES TAX charged using the codes when you enter the back of the card. Another words you just PAID Sales Tax when buying from the store so why would boost mobile charge you again to pay your bill because when you bought your RE-BOOST card you have been charged sales tax already. If they do that then I just rather pay by credit card because they charge sales tax already.

Boost=Sprint
That could be good or bad depending on your area. If you have good coverage, it should be fine.

Having no contracts is great on Boost.

I never deal w/customer service so I can't comment on that.
