Way to fix bad root?

So in Root Browser (App) I found a file in system/ called [recovery_from_boot.p]

If I root my phone but then screw it up will this file be able to do a factory reset for my phone or do I have to do something else?

If you mess up the root you need a custom recovery..like clockwork mod and you have to flash breakoutunroot.zip.
