I've tried everything, spending the entire day trying to get something to work. I have read through numerous tutorials and face problems at each step. Someone needs to help me out here, as I have ran out of ideas; my Galaxy S Captivate i896 (Rogers) is making me hate my life. Someone please help me.

This could be due to the fact that my drivers don't f**king work. I have enabled USB debugging on my phone. Plugging to my front USBs, my 32bit Windows 7 Professional machine detects and I can see "SAMSUNG_Android" in my "Devices and Printers" window. Plugging in to my back USB ports, I get "USB Device is not recognized" message.
I try the (running as administrator) SuperOneClick using my front USB ports (which "work"), and I get the message above, and the program freezes ("Not Responding" message).

I have downloaded the 32bit drivers as posted from everywhere. This is what lets me use the front USB ports. Issue continues with back USB ports.

I'll try something else. Installing <PDANet>, I am prompted with the message
that indicates existing Android USB drivers are found.
Selecting do not reinstall will prompt me to connect the phone with USB debugging enabled. I do as it says. It also suggests that I will be prompted with "New Hardware Wizard," with the option to "Install the software automatically." This is not the case. Selecting "OK," I am prompted with "Android phone not detected." This does not work for me either.
Selecting to reinstall will do something similar, only attempting to reinstall will cause the "USB Device is not recognized" message, and result in more errors installing PDANet. I cannot install PDANet.

After installing ADB Android SDK, opening up cmd and heading to the installed directory's "tools" directory, I enter the command "adb devices". Of course, "'adb' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file." Of course it wouldn't work; I would be stupid to think otherwise.

Maybe I'm trying too hard. So I try z4root, as one XDA thread suggested (
[APP] z4root - xda-developers). Installing and running freezes my phone, and causes it to lag incredibly throughout until I restart my phone.

In the past, I have also tried running Odin to flash my phone with a ROM, but it Odin also does not detect my phone the right way. I kinda forgot the specific error message, but I spent a day or two on that as well. Nothing was flashed.

Captivate Root), downloaded, renamed, and put update.zip into the root of the internal SD card.

EDIT: To add to the list of things I tried, I've also tried the noobie one-stop access toolbod program from XDA forum (
[PROGRAM] AIO Captivate Toolbox *Smaller, Faster, + More Automation* - xda-developers). I have downloaded and installed "Rogers 2.6." Clicking "Root the Phone," and clicking on "Check that USB debugging mode is enabled," I get the message "Currently DISABLED. To Enable: Go to Setup> Applications> Development>"
In case it wasn't clear, it has been enabled. Does not work.

My Rogers i896 Samsung Captivate is running the official Froyo firmware as I had acquired directly from Kies. Basically, I hate my life right now. Please help me before I commit suicide.
