just rooted my cappy,can i install at&t version of gingerbread through kies?

Should be just fine to. You will lose root and you may have to do a factory reset when the upgrade is done to get rid of the tethering manager error pop Up. So back your stuff up cause you will lose it all if you have to factory reset.

upgraded through kies.received an error on installation.phone got stuck in endless boot.did an emergency recovery through kies and a factory reset.
phone works fine now on gingerbread,however old live wall paper forcecloses

now that my captivate is running 2.3.5 gingerbread,i want to root it.
what is the easiest root method to use?

followed your initial root guide,worked perfectly.updated superuser and installed busybox.all previously installed apps work again.
