Default Getting the Amazon Appstore

I just did a factory reset on my phone and am trying to get everying set back up. When I try to dowlod the Amazon app store, I get the message that non-market aps are blocked. I seem to remember that the push from AT&T didn't cut it on rooted phones, but can't recall how to get it.

I tried the option in Super One Click since I thought that what I did before, and it goes through all the steps and says "OK" for the "allow non market aps" step then "Failed" for "checking value". That seemed to ring a bell too, but after a reboot I still couldn't run the appstore download. Is there something else I'm missing?

I think Settings | Security | Unknown sources is what you are looking for.

I don't see that option. I was thinking that was never made available on the Captivate because it was relased back when the notion of AT&T allowing you to install stuff on your phone was unthinkable. Or am I looking in the wrong place (I'm in Settings....Location and Security).

I think so, I'm on ICS and they split Location Services and Security into two separate areas. So you are rooted now? You may want to hunt around in your all things root forum. It may be back a ways but the search could find it. Another place to try is the AT&T forum. You could get lucky there.

Ok, I got it. I re-ran the root and then was able to use the "allow non-market aps" on SuperOneClick. Thanks for the suggestions!

No, so far I've not been able to get the GB upgrade to work (that's why I did the reset....to see if that would allow the update to go).
