On my samsung galaxy s captivate
There is a little glitch I've ran into where notifications are with the wrong contact label and some times pushes my messages to that person
I'm wondering if this is a glitch that comes with adroid and can be fixed with the up coming froyo up date this month
Or should I exchange with my vendor
That is the first that I've heard of the problem(not that it will make a difference). I don't have that problem but the problem that I DO have is that it does not send the message at all.
I have an issue where teh contact name/picture/number is the wrong person, but the previous convo is from the correct person. usually if you wait a second, or close out MMS and open it back up, it's showing the correct info. I've gotten some messages from soem people, that if they said that to me, I'd be a little freaked out(gf message coming from boss, ect..)

Just experienced this for the first time this weekend. Not cool...any update?
Gut intuition is telling me that it has something to do with my contacts being synced with Facebook. Anyway, sending text to GF last night and friend got them and vice-versus. I made sure the right contact was selected and still. Now I don't even feel safe texting someone. Could be wrong person getting the text.
recently my Captivate started having the first real problem i have encountered. when making a new text message the phone was sending the message to the wrong contact. everything was correct, but after being sent i got a reply from a different contact. i unrooted the phone and it hasn't happened since. anyone else find this problem yet? if it keeps happening i will have to send it in for an exchange. this kind of problem can get you in trouble real fast
Interesting, I've KIND of had this problem before....this has happened once to me. I received a text, it said it was from one person but it was actually from someone else. It autocorrected itself, but I'm not quite sure how it happened. I thought I was talking to someone totally different!
this happens to me frequently. it provides for interesting reactions from me. texts from my lady friend that are a little on the risque side that look like they are coming from a business acquaintance. it's pretty bothersome and i have no idea why it does, but it freaks me out seeing business associates sending me messages about where they want me...awkward...

The worst part about mine was I was talking to about 2 or 3 different lady friends at the time.....OOPS!
i also experienced this problem and its no laughing matter..it can really ruin a friendship or a relationship..luckily it only happened once..the only thing i noticed was that i had alot of text threads saved...now i delete em

Is this a widespread issue? This is making me really nervous.
For those who have this problem, are you using a 3rd party sms app? Have you had this problem since day one or is it just kinda sporadic?

Mine is doing the same thing it says im sending it to one person then it sends it to a different one, and it keeps deleting my whole text message log and then they just pop back in there, and messages i recieve are saying there from a different person, so im afraid to text cause idk who might get it.
I know this thread is getting old but i have a rooted captivate running serendipity and this has happened to me twice, first time i was texting my buddy about going out n partying and somehow my boss got the texts, this time i was arguing with my gf last night and just my luck , my boss got 4 texts from me cussing him out that was suppossed to go to my gf, very embarassing.
I can recall one other time i was texting a "ladyfriend" n my gf got one of the messages.
Any word on fixing or preventing this? This just aint cool not knowing who may get what, u could loose a job or a gf like this

Add me to the list. I got a text message the other day from someone totally unexpected asking me to go hang out. It didn't make sense to me so I looked up the number and for some reason the phone number it's coming from is correct, the name it displays is incorrect however.
This only started happening after I installed Serendipity 7.
So yeah, we all know this can get really ugly...

My similar issue is my friend has received 3 seperate msgs showing my number, but I have never sent... To them or anyone else! How can I prove my innocence??

Now for the carrier to claim no fault. Their trying to say there are only 2 ways this is possible, their service isnt like others.
1: Someone maliciously is sening msgs with my # from another Smartphone.. (seriously)
2: Its really not happening... (r u f 4 real)
So y cant it be proved???? Y cant these msgs be tracked???

I'm pretty irritated with this , as i know most of you are . I've had absolutely no luck in trying to find any resolve.
This happened to me ONCE back in january BEFORE i did the software upgrade on my Captivate galaxy s.
Since i did the upgrade to GINGERBREAD on Sunday night, this issue has happened a couple handfuls of times.
Super ****ed up, since i run a small business , fighting with my husband, texting my son , my inlaws and even clients. FROM THE SAME PHONE .
having a **** YOU mistakenly go to my inlaw or client is a bit offsetting.
NOW..... i know some have said ....wait a second and make sure the recipient i WANT the text to go to actually SHOWS ... but it does show ... the whole convo that I am responding to is ON THE SCREEN ...i type my reply , hit send and then BAMMMM, it switches the recipient .
Soo like others i am now AFRAID to send text messages... which is what i NORMALLY do with my phone ... Not everyone has gchat and i can't always CALL nor do i always want to TALK with whom ever.
there....i said my piece like everyone else.... now we can continue being pissed about this with no real resolution.

Like you I have the same problem since Gingerbread. I noticed this ONLY happens if I open my text messages from the pull down notification.
I just factory reset my phone and am STILL getting this. I only have two apps: JuiceDefender and 3G Watchdog, I'd be interested to see if you have either of these two apps as well
