So last night i drained down to 0 and charged to 100. when I went to bed my phone had 100% battery life. All in all it drained to 41% overnight
My wifi is set to sleep never(but i get weak signal in my room) Could this be the culprit? Would I be better on 3g?
What could cause my phone to use 60% overnight.
I disabled live wallpapers the second I got my phone.
I have nothing really installed just:
Juice plotter
Launcher Pro Plus
Angry Birds
Net Counter.
Is there anyway to turn off 3g and Wifi?
I'm worried about the quick discharge

I don't think it's possible to turn off 3G unless AT&T blocks it for you.
Settings > Wireless and Network > Wi-Fi Settings > Uncheck the box next to Wi-Fi to disable Wi-Fi.
Wi-Fi / 3G normally don't drain 60% of your battery overnight, mine drains like 10% battery normally with Wi-Fi on neversleep. I suggest you go download ATK from the android market to see/kill what's running on the background draining your battery.
When you go to Settings > About Phone > Battery Use, what does it show as using the most?
I charged mine last night & unplugged about 21:00, and it only used 6% overnight with "phone idle" and "cell standby" being the biggest 2. Wifi was about 1% (but my signal is decent).
it didn't say anything abnormal
but I do think it shut down during the night by itself...
cause I vaguely remember waking up to check time and having to turn it on.**** i just got it I cant believe its already dying
could it have anything to do with me charging it via USB last night at work
When you close out of angry birds, do you just hit home, or do you go all the way back to the "play" screen and then hit the back arrow (which then asks if you really want to quit)?
For me, backing out all the way has drastically increased my battery life, I'm guessing Angry Birds runs all the time in the background?

It seems to, at least for a while.

Not sure about the USB charging.
I can say, though, that my phone isn't fully charged when it tells me to "click OK and disconnect". Let it keep charging. You'll get another 2% or more out of it.
i shouldnt be losing 60% though. I'm about to throw this thing at a wall
You're darn right.
Could be the battery. If the only apps you have installed are the ones you listed, gotta consider that.
I don't think 3G would be better. On mine (and based on reading others' experiences) wifi uses far fewer power.
Oh holy cow!
Definitely get another one.
Must be something faulty internally or with the battery. Either way it's worth replacing. It shouldn't use more than 10% overnight.
My battery life sucks! I only get 10 hours if I use the phone a little or 12 if not used. I bought a new battery and everything was great for about a week. I would end the day, 16 hours, with 40% left. Now a week later, I am back to the same old thing. What is going on? I leave it on charge overnight, unplug at 5am and by 5 pm I'm in the red. Don't tell me it is in the settings because it will die while at home 30 ft. away from the wireless router and MicroCell. Also, for the week on the new battery I didn't change any settings, but the battery lasted all day. Is there something wrong with the charger that is killing my batteries? Any thoughts?
Have you tried just putting it on airplane mode overnight? If it isn't a drastic difference then it cant be 3G/wifi and must be either hardware or apps, if it's happened from day one I'd then say it was hardware and to get a replacement.
I'm surprised no one really knows this but it is actually your WiFi that is causing the drain.
Turn off WiFi completely (leave mobile data on if you want) and you'll see that you'll lose 1-2% overnight. WiFi has an issue where it prevents your phone from sleeping, even if you have the WiFi sleep policy set to "When the screen is off". No need to return your Captivate like the others are saying. It's just that WiFi seems to be on all the time, no matter what, which causes your phone to hold a wakelock and not sleep (thus draining your battery).
I haven't found a solution to this so I just stopped using WiFi all together. I'm perfectly fine with using 3G data with the confidence of knowing that my phone is sleeping correctly.
